Adding Gissie & Suma Designations of players who are internationals are my best guess. Nothing from the league yet on roster rules for 2017. Last year, seven international slots were allowed.
Wow this kid has played in as many countries as he is old. Sheesh. I never like to see that in a player my team brings in, but we'll see what he can do.
I think its safe to put Motagalvan, alvarez and foran in the gone column... As well as Pridham and Christian
LaGrassa leaving This is really too bad. Strong performer at the end of the year. From his Instagram post: Sad to announce I will not be returning to Sacramento for the 2017 season... I am grateful to have had the opportunity to play for my hometown club. Thank you to all of my teammates, family, friends, fans, the @towerbridgebattalion and the entire organization for their support. I will always remain a fan of all things Sacramento. #sacramentoproud
Adding Kneeshaw, Hord and subtracting LaGrassa: It looks as though we're building a roster comparable to last year's conference champs. I do wonder if the current NASL debacle will impact the quality of play in the west. NASL players are looking for work. Ottawa and Tampa are joining the east. Will Edmonton FC and SF Deltas (rumored to have a big player budget) somehow be on our schedule? I know, too soon to tell. Whatever the case, I would like to be able to point at a couple of spots on the roster and say, "There. That's a significant upgrade." At least we haven't had any rude awakenings like last off season.
LaGrassa signed with Reno: http://www.uslsoccer.com/news_article/show/736527?referrer_id=2364194-news-archive
Trickett-Smith and Chaney have re-signed. http://www.sacrepublicfc.com/news_article/show/736634 Wanting Trickett-Smith back seemed like a no-brainer. The only question was whether he would find better opportunities elsewhere. Hope the little guy starts to fill out and stays healthy. I thought Chaney was a big question mark. Sure, he scored a lot of goals in PDL, but almost half were in one game. There was also no telling what he showed in training the last several weeks of the season. So, good to know.
Good luck JJ! Looking forward to moving on from soccer and working toward dental school! It's been an great ride, but excited for what God has next.— JJ Koval (@jjkoval) December 21, 2016
After scoring a goal against the 'Quakes last preseason, Pridham didn't leave much of a mark. LaGrassa was not getting any playing time and was loaned to woeful Tulsa mid-year. Upon returning late in the year he put in some impressive minutes largely off the bench. Pridham is not much of a loss, but it's too bad for Sac about LaGrassa.
I can only imagine the player Koval could have been if nurtured and played in a better environment than the Quakes. I feel like he got done dirty early on and was never fully able to develop. Another thing to note is we basically got rid of Mirkovic to being Koval in, and now we have neither.
Adding Pridham and Koval to the outgoing list. Still waiting to hear on a few guys who put in significant minutes last season, Kiffe, Christian and Iwassa. Those three logged the 2nd, 3rd and 4th most minutes last season. Koval and Guzman logged the 5th and 6th most minutes last season, btw.
I think this year's team is definitely showing the influence and philosophy of Buckle. Hopefully he knows what he's doing....... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
