...cause I'm not a Phillies fan? Sixers fan? Flyers fan? Have family who live and die with the green team? Been an SOB since 2008 and been to every stinking game this team has played in Philly and @30 or so away games in that span? Oh, I believe I totally understand the concept in spite of being a Dallas fan.

It's clear we've had our second and third players ruined by a NT camp call up too.

If true, that might be a problem... Coach Shit wants the U to be a feeder for USMNT...

This happens over and over again for all teams. Then the effete snobs of the USMNT boards call for more and more and more national team dates. ******** the national team. Totally ruins players' club performances.

Watched a replay beginning around 2 AM. I was a bit fuzzy...did I get anything wrong?

1). Union take advantage of Pirlo on a regulation field with an energetic press that creates numerous turnovers while Viera insists on playing out of the back.

2).Despite numerous opportunities, Philly can't connect passes into scoring chances because Alberg isn't any more of a creator than Bedoya-and can't press as well in any event.

3). NYC stabilizes, and is unlucky not to take the lead against the run of play due to a missed handball in the box.

    ***************************************************************************************************

4). Coming out of the locker room, somebody gets in Patrick's ear about this crazy idea that the best way to break a frenetic press is to give it a taste of its own medicine. You can call it tactical or philosophical- but either way I call it a coaching adjustment- even if likely achieved via consensus.

5). Almost immediately, a critical turnover ensues and Matarrera makes a brilliant D-splitting pass to Harrison for a gw. Talent can do that, so I've heard.

6). Once in control of the proceedings, the Jr. Citizens kill enough time on the clock for Viera to get about 78 minutes or so out of their weakest defensive link on the field without a response.

7). Union make some local player changes.

8). Deciding that some form of a 4-3-3 is suitable to their desperation, ( I mean, Ale even killed his pony! ) NYC waits for the inevitable overcommit, gains possession and hoofs it up toward their $uperstar $triker. He then shrugs off a rookie, and launches a 50+ yard chip that all but tells Moneyball Inc. to eat shit and spit like the maggots they are-all the while no doubt reminiscing about similar glory in S.Africa awhile back............

Added bonus: delusion on a bus.

    Do I have that right?

Pretty much. We didn't mention (because this week it helped us) the two blatant hand balls in the box against. We could've gone down 4 nil if the ref didn't have dinner reservations and needed to get out.

If this was the game summary the Union posted on its website, I'd actually have some respect for the organization.

At this point I'd actually take the Cruz missile over Illsino. He at least had speed and would play a cross. Illsino's only move is to dribble around a guy right into the three others closing in on him and cough up the ball Freddy Adu style. Every team knows this and plays him the same way resulting in a guaranteed turnover. Seriously if the guy would just cross it in or shoot it once in awhile he'd get himself much more space. It seems such a simple concept, being unpredictable affords you time and space. Perhaps Jimmy is actually right and changing formation IS actually too complicated for this squad.

    Or we just really suck.

I think we've got some decent players out there. The first half of this game and the first half of the Toronto game the press and the ball movement were good enough, and Gooch and Blake were owning the box, enough that I could believe we were competitive, They were livelier at first with Alberg at the 10 last night. But they're a bunch of reasonably talented individuals, not a team. Ilsinho and Rosenberry run the same give and go tricks down the right side every time, and get away with it and that goes nowhere. Fabinho tales the ball down the left with great speed, maybe runs past somebody, and it dies there. Mid-Union-N is given a ton of space, takes the outlet from Blake, makes it to midfield, it gets pushed near the 18 and sent back out or lost over the endline.

We're seeing the same defense every week: run two to three guys at whoever has the ball because there's either no outlet pass or no trust to pass it, or no ability to get out of it. If CJ is running down the middle without the ball, put two runners on him. Clog the box on defense because nobody is willing or able to skip a shot through when they get close, and there's no trust if you get a ball behind the line that somebody will break on it, and no shared notion of which way to break/pass when it does happen. We keep hearing there's great chemistry in the locker room, but it doesn't show up on the field, and having them race go karts and play paintball together doesn't seem to be helping.

I don't think he was reacting to anything on the field.

I think Albright finally convinced Stewart to buy a Tesla.
