Im in favor of this move so long as he doesnt sclerose the team with his mothers horrible fatty Southern cooking.
Dean: good depth move, for peanuts. Who knows, maybe he'll get back on track. Love his height and age.
Yep. The club's salary pot is basically a zero sum game, so that's the true cost of Dean. Meira has hinted he's going back home after this season. Lillard is joining the team next season, but highly doubt he'll be ready to play. The brain trust figures Dean is worth the gamble. Lots of upside there and we need another CB.
If Meira bolts, Campbell and Dean will battle for his spot. Lillard will be best served by playing for whoever we're affiliated with in the USL next season.
.@ChicagoFire land GK @richsanz45 .. U17 World Cup winner will be presented on Monday. Contract w/ @MLS already signed. #Fire #MLS 🇺🇸 🇲🇽— herculez gomez (@herculezg) August 10, 2017 Isn't he a dallas FC product? One of those drafts that mls loves?
Apparently he is cheap for a year and then his salary goes up to 200k. The kid stalled out as soon as he left FC Dallas.
I also heard something about off field issues. Hopefully Basti will be around for another couple years to get these kids on the right path.
Wow, he has played 5 games last season for a 2nd division Mexican team and and 19 in his career (14 for Ft. Lauderdale in 2013). He managed 0 games in 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016. Come on, Nelson Rodriguez, you old snake oil salesman, sell this one to the Fire faithful. Tell us that you and your "soul mate" have had your eye on this player for a long time, back to his time with the Mexican "national team" and have been working on this deal for months. He is the reason we dumped Sean Johnson. Come on, say it and expect us to believe it. (and if any of you mfers call me a "wallower" I will say thank you).
the giveaway on this one is still referring to a 23 year old as "U17 World Cup Winner" but wtf, he's probably better than a pool keeper for 3rd string.
To get a source. I'm also told that Sanchez can be had for the league minimum this season w/option at $200k for the next two years.— Jeff Carlisle (@JeffreyCarlisle) August 10, 2017 He has an option to go up to 200k after this season, but would be at league minimum this season. Probably the third choice or back up with Bava's injuries.
We're taking a flyer on Sanchez (obviously). Bava's going, going, gone. We need another keeper. If Sanchez pans out, great. The acquisition cost appears to be miniscule.
If only we had a keeper, one who have been in the league and with the team since 2010, who had helped steer the Fire through the worst time in their history, who was on the fringes of the USMNT, and who was cheaper than $200,000.00. Now where, oh where, could we have found such a keeper? "Nope, drawing a blank on that one," Veljko Paunović. "Wallower! Just trust the 'Process'!" Nelson Rodriguez
Johnson was a big mistake, no doubt about it. Everyone knows it and it's been rehashed here myriad times. The Fire are under no obligation to keep Sanchez. If he doesn't pan out, we're out peanuts. He'll have an extended trial (the rest of this season). Hopefully, the decision will be easy.
