Just updated. Eddy, Jenkins, Kawamura out for NC. Debinha questionable, but highly doubt she plays. Morris out for Portland.
If you happen to see a discount Microsoft-Paint-generated 18"x24" poster version of this flag at the game or on TV, I'll be the one holding it.
Love it! I've seen that flag, in person. Wish I could be there in person, but I'll be there "out of body."
Jeff Kassouf @JeffKassouf 19m19 minutes ago Ticket sales for NWSL Championship ~7,500 as of yesterday afternoon. ~150 traveling Thorns supporters expected; ~100 Courage supporters.
Portland versus North Carolina will have the excitement we want to see for a championship game but that will quickly fade. These teams played each other on April 22nd, when they were in tip-top shape. In my article. the April 22nd match could hold the key to victory for one team. Two 15 minute extra time not included. http://cappedsports.com/articles/1557/the-thorns-vs-courage-april-22nd
I just have to crow a little: Omg! My mom literally googled where she could buy Sahlen’s hotdogs so we can eat them for @TheNCCourage game tomorrow! ⚽️🏆🌭#NWSLChampionship pic.twitter.com/gBqpjOkLsK— Amberly (@NotSynthetica) October 14, 2017
"Tip-top shape"? You've got to be kidding. The Thorns were without starters Tobin Heath and Katherine Reynolds who still were out with injuries. Klingenberg was still working her way back from injury and was good for only half a game. Dagny Brynjarsdottir was out injured. Hayley Raso wasn't yet in the starting lineup. And Ashleigh Sykes hadn't arrived yet. In fact, the second time the teams played, in Portland, Heath, Reynolds, and Brynjarsdottir still weren't back.
Hanging out with cloud 9 at broken cauldron if anyone around. Seems to be pregame headquarters. Wearing 1 of 2 McDonald WNY jerseys
How is that not a yellow card on Heath? It shouldn't matter that it is the 2nd minute, or that Heath is a star player. Dirty play. Fully warrants a card.
Was going to write just that, but you beat me. Frankly it would have deserved a YC. Poor from Heath (and from referee).
03' 0-0 T.Smith breaks upfield past circle top box right, Heath curls her inside-out run and delivers a flying bump to the ribs from slightly behind. T.Smith tumbles forward, breaks fall with right arm poorly -- hurts her right shoulder. Stoppage, no card. T.Smith walks into near touch, holding right neck/clavicle. ~05' 0-0 T.Smith returns, holding her right arm up in an invisible sling tuck. ~10' 0-0 T.Smith jumps behind Heath for a header ball, gets no lift ... sags on landing, shaking her head. Invisible sling is not working. 12' 0-0 Orlando subs in (1 of 3) #3 Makenzy Doniak for #11 Taylor Smith.
14' 0-0 S.Mewis chips from circle top, Franch backpedals and jumps, ball bounces off crossbar center, rebounds high past 6-top and Franch jogs out to collect. It's a meme, so everybody's practicing it, like very long NBA 3-pointers .@sammymewy off the cross bar 😱#NWSLChampionship | #NCvPOR | 0-0 pic.twitter.com/4uZcQVFCfP— National Women’s Soccer League (@NWSL) October 14, 2017 15' 0-0 Zerboni dribbles away at 6m wide left, Horan comes hard from endline and stomp-thigh-charges Zerboni down hard. Foul, no card (OTOH, the thought of Zerboni complaining about getting fouled hard would be ironic)
