One interesting stat, YB is the only club in the RSL who has had their manager, Adi Hütter, for more than a season.
Giorgio Contini was fired by St. Gallen. I know they just hit a rough patch, but they're 1 point in back of third. I think the expectations of the board are just a touch unreal. He's a good man, and I'm sure that a few Super League clubs will be interested next season.
I think Sion will find a way to stay up this year, but I think the battle is between Lugano and LS because Lugano's schedule is unfavorable as compared to Sion and LS. Lugano - vs FCSG, at Luzern, vs LS, at YB, vs FCZ Sion - at FCZ, vs YB, at GCZ, vs FCSG, at Thun LS - vs GCZ, at FCZ, at Lugano, vs Thun, at FCSG Lausanne finds a way to win at Lugano, plus take points off of fellow relegation contenders Thun and GCZ, and I think we might see Lugano go down.
I also think that Sion will be safe. Although it would kind of be fun to see CC loose his mind in the BCL. I think both LS and Lugano are in trouble. Lugano finishing with essentially the 4 best teams and LS, while LS gets more at the lower end of the table.
28 April LS - GCZ Is LS wants to stay up, they will need points here. YB - Luern 29 April Basel - Thun FCZ - Sion Lugano - FCSG
Congrats to YB - I really like the picture of the fans on the field. 28 April LS - GCZ 0-1 YB - Luern 2-1 29 April Basel - Thun 6-1 FCZ - Sion 3-3 Sion was up 0-2 at the half and had a man advantage before Michael Frey scored 3 goals. Lugano - FCSG 2-1 YB 75 Basel 62 Luzern 46 FCSG 45 FCZ 41 GCZ 38 Lugano 38 Thun 36
Leading goalscorers 14 - Guillaume Hoarau YB 12 -Jean-Pierre Nsame YB 12 - Roger Assale YB 12 - Albian Ajeti Basel 12 - Marvin Spielmann Thun Leaders in assists 14 - Matteo Tosetti Thun 11 - Samuele Campo Basel 11 - Mohamed Elyounoussi Basel No numbers so far for this season. Attendance 25,693 (16) - Basel 21,435 (17) - YB 12,202 (15) - FCSG 10,841 (16) - FCZ 9,997 (16) - Luzern 9,469 (16) - Sion 7,044 (16) - GCZ 5,835 (15)- Thun 4,064 (17) - LS 3,716 (16) - Lugano
5 May Luzern - Lugano 2-0 Sion - YB 0-1 6 May FCZ - LS 1-1 FCSG - Basel 2-4 Thun - GCZ 2-1 YB 78 Basel 65 Luzern 49 FCSG 45 FCZ 42 Thun 39 GCZ 38 Lugano 38 Sion 33 LS 32 3 matches to go. Sion and LS seem to be ready to take it to the last day. They both play FCSG and Thun.
http://www.fifa.com/news/y=2018/m=5/news=the-week-in-numbers-12.html says: "32 years since they were last crowned Swiss champions – Dario Zuffi, Georges Bregy and Lars Lunde inspired their 1985/86 conquest – Young Boys repeated the feat to end Basel’s unprecedented eight-year reign. Miralem Sulejmani, Christian Fassnacht, Roger Assale, Guillaume Hoarau and Co claimed 38 points from a possible 42 to clinch the trophy with four rounds to spare."
9 May GCZ - Sion FCSG - Luzern Thun - FCZ 10 May Basel - YB - YB could drive the stake into the heart of Basel with a win here. Lugano - LS If things break right for FCZ, they could sitll catch FCSG for the 2nd EL spot. I think both Sion and LS will loose. But LS is playing the weaker club.
9 May GCZ - Sion 0-2 FCSG - Luzern 2-3 Thun - FCZ 0-1 10 May Basel - YB 5-1 Basel destroyed a disinterested YB. Lugano - LS 2-0 4 point gap now. YB 78 Basel 68 Luzern 52 FCZ 45 FCSG 45 Lugano 41 Thun 39 GCZ 38 Sion 36 LS 32
FCZ - Basel 4-1 LS - Thun 0-2 Match abandoned when LS supports took to the pitch to express their displeasure about the direction of the club. They go down. Luzern - GCZ 1-1 Sion - FCSG 3-2 Sion is safe. YB - Lugano 3-1 YB 81 Basel 68 Luzern 53 FCZ 48 FCSG 45 Lugano 41 GCZ 39 Sion 39 Thun 39 LS 32 FCZ almost assured of the EL spot as their GD is +6 while FCSG is -17. So if FCZ and FCSG tie on points, FCSG needs to score 23 more goals than FCZ in the last match.
Terribly run organization with some uninspired signings. They go down and surely not to come back up for a while....good riddance!
The Lausanne incident occurred not because of the relegation, but actually because of a fight between the ultras of Lausanne and Thun. Apparently, before the match, Thun ultras at the train station assaulted an SBB/CFF engineer, then they needed to be separated from Lausanne ultras outside of the stadium. Police the couldn't contain the situation after Lausanne ultras realized this may be the last time they meet up, so they rushed out of the stands and went after the Thun ultras in their sector. There didn't appear to be enough security in place, and police had to rush into the stadium to contain everything. Last I read, 14 people were arrested, aged 20-40, almost all Lausanne ultras. Here's the video of the incident. It's a big black eye on Swiss football, but also on the security of the Pontaise who couldn't contain the situation. You can also see some of what happened in this video from SRF. Just move ahead to 3:17.

Not bad. Sion, if the team had been any good would have made over 10k. I think the 2k or so at LS are not going to count because the match was abandoned.
Hutter is gone at YB at the end of the season. They are looking at Celestini to replace him. 19 May Basel - Luzern GCZ - YB Lugano - FCZ FCSG - LS Thun - Sion Other than pride, there are a few matches that matter. The top 3 spots are set, LS will be relegated. FCSG could over come FCZ, but it would take a massive 23 goal swing.
