#2 Int Allocation spot and our 12th pick of first round and 2nd round 2nd pick...all for...what? It better be Bedoya or Pulido coming in...but who will they play with out there on the field.

We used to draft bright young talent and mold them and trust in them. I sort of miss those days now.

Why would we need the top allocation spot to get Pulido? I thought allocation spots were only to get US players.

    From the broadcast:
"What do the Colorado Rapids get in Emmanuel Appiah?"
"Of course a defensive midfielder... Palbo Mastroeni loves his defensive midfielders!"
"... they have something like 18 defensive midfielders!"

    Awesome!

Right, forgot about that rule change. (To be fair, Tyalor Twellman also suggested it so he forgot too)

Its got to be Bedoya then.

    Emmanuel Appiah is our pick.

Taylor Twellman wondering out loud where leadership for Colorado Rapids will come from, on the field, in the front office, anywhere...guess he's been paying attention the last two years..

So far, with 3 cracks at it, we've addressed exactly 0 holes on our roster and made every Rapids' fan's sarcastic predictions come true.

    Keep on RFOing, RFO!

Remember, outside of the top couple of picks this was a pretty weak draft class. Well...weaker than usual I mean. The draft produces mostly shit. I doubt Appiah see much, if any, playing time.

Clearly the club's strategy isn't about picking up prospects, but instead trading for players that are ready to play in MLS on Day 1.

On paper this is a much better strategy. We don't need prospects. We need guys that are ready to go, and already playing at a high level right now.

The concerning thing though is that I have doubts about Bravo's judgement and his ability to get the players we really need.

In the short-term, this strategy would make some sense given the very difficult start to next year's schedule.

But win-now also smells of desperation, to hold onto jobs, instead of any long-term plan.

exactly, we've already blown through the class of 2013 & sold, unloaded or neglected bright winning talent to make this one of the oldest teams in MLS, and fallen farther and farther down the table in the process. We went from the "Rapids Way" to a MLS retirement home overnight under Pablo/Brave looking for that player to "contribute now"because Pablo cannot coach promising youth. What happened to the "Rapids Way" of building exciting fast pace teams?

This just smacks of a totally clueless 3rd roll of the dice to reboot a failing franchise.

I will say...if we do end up with Bedoya and one of Philly's top players (please be Sapong), I would consider this a very successful draft. The two of them combined would do waaaay more good for us then having all 10 first picks.

Had to go find him on pre-draft write-up stuff:

    5. Emmanuel Appiah, Cincinnati – A pure destroyer who covers a ton of ground, Appiah's impressed scouts by showing more passing skill than many expected.

For what its worth, Ives ranked him 53rd in this Draft (meaning 3rd round pick)

Well, I want to win now. I'm pretty fed up with going into year 5 of this post-Smith rebuild and again tossing the dice on average-to-medicare quality draft picks.

Is there any hope with 2nd round pick?

    Edit: oops, we traded it

While I won't argue that the handling of the roster has been godawful, I think you're grossly overselling the quality of the youth talent we had/have.

BTW, Appiah is Ghanaian so he probably requires an international slot as well.

only by comparison I mean. and in a MLS setting of course, but in relation to the last two years the coaching, the players and their utilization were vastly superior in 2013. I'm at the point I'm not sure that Bedoya, Pulido and Vela can save a Mastroeini coached team that's also funded by Kroenke.

If this were the Patriots and trading down and aquiring more picks, this would be expected as talent is totally at a different level.
With the 2nd pick, this would have been a starting XI pick player. If the PHI give up Sapong and alot of cash, I'm ok with it. Heck, I'd even be ok with the NASL player they just signed is possibly a better player than our front of Badji starting last season.
Just head scratching decisions....again and again from this FO.

I think we're all fed up. And I'd like to see us win next year, too. But not only next year.

You don't make sustainable success by trading away all your 1st round draft spots for win-now guys and 2nd-3rd round draft picks that inevitably become mediocre pros. We had the chance to get a 95% sure starter for the next 5 years in Yaro or Vincent, and threw it away.

So where did Twellman come up with Bedoya?? Where is the rumor originating from?? I ask because Bedoya, just last season, singed an extension with Nantes until the 2018/19 season. He's been and out of the lineup this season due to nagging injuries but has been a pretty consistent performer for them when healthy. I haven't hear any grumblings that Bedoya's unhappy and/or looking to return to MLS. I figured he would see out his contract and would pop up with Miami when they entered MLS. he's a South FL guy thru and thru.

He grew up in Westerville, OH so the chances are very high he's a citizen or at the very least a Green Card holder.

Well the trade part was right, the value is undecided but relies completely on a player to be named later

Come on Libih, loved watching your father play, want to see you in Colorado.
