Injury report is out for HOU-ORL: http://www.nwslsoccer.com/injury-report And then there's this: Important note re: @WashSpirit for the upcoming game against @ThornsFC pic.twitter.com/x20AIFECRK— Jennifer Gordon (@jgordon0319) May 19, 2016 The Equalizer crowd is going to have an absolute field day with a non-USWNT player also missing a match for someone else's wedding.
It already happened once this season. Amber Brooks missed the Dash game against Sky Blue attending a friend's wedding.
No clue, but I thought reserves players of all positions have been called up to temporary contracts several times in NWSL.
Interesting...I didn't think Portland and Washington would be playing each other twice in the space of two weeks.
Well, I imagine there is a rule that u need two GKs in ur 18 but other than that not sure u need temp contract players. What would be the difference in playing her as an amateur or having to give her a temp contract? Can u only use amateur players during NT call-up windows?
Yes, amateur call-ups are only permitted during NT absences. If a backup is needed outside of that, they have to be added as a professional. And this must be a recent rule, because in 2014, Chicago played a game at SkyBlue where their only rostered GK was Vancil.
Accord to roster rules: Amateur Call-up If a National Team Player is being called up for National Team duty, a Team may bring in a U.S. Amateur Player to count toward the 20-Player Roster. The Team is not to provide any compensation to the Amateur Player, but may cover necessary expenses as approved by the League. Goalkeeper Exception In the case where a Team has less than two available goalkeepers, a Team will be able to add a goalkeeper to its Roster until its goalkeeper is back to full participation with the Team. This must be done within the Salary Cap.
Expected win percentages (and expected "FIFA game result" for those of you familiar with their table) for matchday 6; ratings based on xG analysis by Chad Murphy; homefield advantage = 50 rating points: Houston 2057 coin toss Orlando 2106 WNY 2127 (.80) over Sky Blue 1854 Washington 2137 (.53) AT Portland 2070 Boston 1836 (.56) KC 1848 Chicago 2020 (.63) AT Seattle 1878 So far, using current ratings, there have been no upsets where the rating difference was more than 100 points. Sooner or later there will be, but for now the biggest upset is Sky Blue (1854) 2-1 over Seattle (1878) at Seattle, but it's a rating difference of only 74 points including the homefield advantage Well, perhaps, we can count Chicago (2020) over WNY (2127) as a 100 point upset, but since Chicago was home, the adjusted rating difference was only 57 points. There've been some bigger "upset ties". Such as KC (1848) vs Portland (2070) - 272 point difference; 322 without the homefield adjustment; and Houston (2057) tie with Sky blue (1854) - 253 point difference with the homefield, 203 without.
I didn't notice this earlier, but FWIW Daly is not in the injury report. Seems from her Twitter that she's fine, and was so fairly soon after the WAS game; I was really scared when she staggered off the pitch the way she did last Saturday.
Man, this week is impossible. Not only do I have no clue who will win each match because they're all so even, but I can't even pick with my heart since they're all conflicts of interest... I want both HOU and ORL to win since I want both in the playoffs... I don't want to see SEA or POR picking up a point or three, but at the same time WSH and CHI are flying too high for my liking. I don't really care about NJ or WNY, and with KC and BOS... I feel bad for BOS but at the same time I love record-breaking. It's made picking my fantasy team absolute hell this week. This title, tho: NWSL week 6 preview: Boston may finally score a goal this weekend
You're cold hearted. I hope they score... they will score this week. The past 2 weeks they had unfortunate luck with sure goals being saved off of the line and a questionable offside call against them.
I know WNY has had trouble converting their chances but for what it's worth, the xG-derived ratings say WNY is the biggest favorite this week, (.80) expected win percentage. WNY rating 2127; Sky Blue 1854. By the way, the ratings the last couple weeks (both using xG and using the cruder shots on goal/shots allowed method) show a pretty clear separation between the top 6 teams and the bottom 4. There's still time (and the Olympics rosters will create more unpredictability) but it's not looking good for KC (gasp!), Seattle (gasp!), Sky Blue and Boston as far as their playoff chances.
Well yeah, I saw that post earlier. They're fun numbers, but I'm still iffy on trusting them for predictions. Just from what I've seen of both teams, that .80 seems far too high.
WNY seems to create chances. They've been very bad at finishing them. (Not as bad as Boston, of course). I think you're right, though, WNY's rating may be a bit high. But I'm reasonably sure they're an overall good team - part of the six who will likely be fighting for playoff spots.
Boston's problems are more bad luck than bad finishing. WNY is just terrible at the whole finishing thing. BTW, Ellis is at the Dash game.
