Fun fact: In several German forums, they are saying things like:

"We can be glad to have taken 2 points against favourites for the gold medal."

"Our defense sucked and the pass misses were horrible" (deja vu?)

"South Korea was better both in terms of technique and team play"

"We can't win with scrubs like Benders." (I'm using Amoebaculture's favourite word for comparison ^^)

"Besides Meyer, Brandt and Gnabry we only have useless players"

"I bet you guys have thought that we'd easily win against the Koreans who can be considered as contenders for gold."

"If we score more than 8 goals against Fiji we're safe."
"That won't be easy with that team."

"Why is Son at the Olympics? The Koreans also seem to take the tournament serious. Why everyone does but not us?"
"Because Korea will get military exemption. But Son got it already so I guess it has to do with the general importance of the Olympics in South Korea."

"Good for us, we'll have Bender and Ginter back soon." (by a BVB fan)

"Our team is full of more than average Bundesliga players and can't perform better than this?"

"I feel sorry for South Korea. They deserve it in every way."

    :D:D:D:D:D

So I guess it's just normal to see only the bad sides. ;)

at times like this, we should have played KCH in the middle where he can shine and have started ryu so he can attract potential suitors. But in the end we had to start MCJ...

disagree on Shin SM. his defense, especially his positioning was awful too.

if you exclude Moon CJ, Jang HS, and Shin SM..... team played well vs Germany. also, most.. including myself .. are frustrated by the way the team conceded at the end.

Very proud of the squad. We finished strong the last 20 minutes.

    -Gnabry is a beast
-Meyer is overrated. At least from this match
-HHC isnt as bad as yall are making him out to be
    -Our GK sucks
-Moon and Sim should not get any minutes
-Son is easily the best player on pitch
-We scored 11 goals and have 4 points after 2 matches. Everyone chill out.

I thought Lee SC was horrible at doing his primary job, which is to defend. I know KCH did not help at all defensively, but his 1v1 defending is horrible. I also thought KCH was really bad. He still hasn't fully recovered from his injury it seems. Playing him out of position just made him look really out of synch. Otherwise, I agree with your observation.

I don't think Gnabry is a beast. He's a bit one dimensional. It's the players around him that let him play to his strength... That and our defenders made him look like Alexi Sanchez...

When HHC was dabbing, LYP was like he didn't know what that was lol.

SSM was horrible all over the pitch which compounded his awfulness vs say Toljan who was bad defending but attacked very well. And of course both are linked as SSM had a complete lack of radar as to who was out there as Toljan had half the pitch to himself if he pushed up at all.

LSC was bad 1v1 and in general but not horrific vs a very difficult matchup compared to SSM (with Brandt sliding inside most of the match)

This is probably the best offensive team i've seen in a KNT shirt. To have scored 11 goals in two games is a good offensive statistic. technically we will only need a draw to advance thru since mexico has a lower GD than us. I've been impressed by SON and HWANG.

The basic problem is that our defenders get stucked in K-League, J-League or CSL. They must go to Europe and learn, even Serie B would be better than those leagues for a defender. But on the other hand, they never get those offers. It's just frustrating because a proper young RB is urgent. (Also in CB we need better players)

where's Ryu SW in the pic? last I checked, he is still a player for Leverkusen ;):ninja::whistling:

this isn't true for fullbacks. EU clubs don't have issues with signing fullbacks from Asia

edit - again, I still think Shin TY was wrong to ignore guys like Kim YH of Incheon or Kang SW of Pohang. at least they are playing consistently in K-league this season compared to other 3 who are selected. since this generation doesn't have a standout fullback, Shin TY should have selected the guys who are fit & playing consistently with their clubs.

Jury's still out but none of the three concessions today were particularly his fault.

I meant that they're not even good enough to get attention. I hope the assist by LSC somehow made a stupid German second league club interested in signing him. XD

No European teams will be interested in some scrubs, tbh. Also if they do really well then they can get lucky personally and make big money in China/Middle East.

I wish we can finish first in this group and hopefully Honduras tie Argentina so they can finish second in their group. Then Denmark can finish first in group A and one of Sweden and Colombia can finish second in group B. So then we can beat Honduras and then we can beat Denmark/Sweden/Colombia to make it to the final.

After yesterday's game, I got a feeling that maybe Germany won't score 8 goals. And a draw against Mexico is more than possible. I think we'll go through as group winners and after that we can consider us medal contenders.

    Edit:
My hopes for the next game(s) are:

    - whole team (esp. fullbacks) needs to defend better.
    - work on making less pass misses.
    - stick with JHS and JSH as CB duo.
    - KCH must replace MCJ as the CAM
    - MCJ (if he plays) owe us something (the same goes for SSM and CKB).
    - RSW needs to start
    - STY needs to improve his selection abilities (and also substitutions in terms of timing)

We can consider Mexico vs S. Korea a knockout round. Who lose is out.

Pretty much, unless Germany do something really crazy and only win by three goals.
