From what I know, it's actually not. The pink is for breast cancer. The rainbow represents local causes and people. RED = Education, specifically the Roger Palacios Foundation ORANGE = Hunger Awareness YELLOW = Military/ PTSD/Suicide Prevention GREEN = Rural communities and Family Farming BLUE = Autism Awareness PURPLE =Non Violence and Diversity Awareness. Money raised will go toward all the causes that are supported.
Rayo OKC's away kit, like all of Rayo OKC's kits, is a direct copy of Rayo Vallecano's away kit (one which the Rayistas in Vallecas reject) and the original "meaning" is as follows: Red - For those who fight against AIDS. Orange - For those who fight for the integration of the disabled. Yellow - For those who haven no hope. Green - For those who fight to protect the environment. Blue - For those who fight against child abuse. Purple - For those who fight against domestic violence. Rainbow - For those who fight against LGBT discrimination. For those who don't know, Vallecas is an left wing neighborhood in Madrid and Rayo Vallecano is a left wing club. The supporters groups were upset with the rainbow sash kit because they felt it trivialized the important issues it feigned to represent, was an affront to the club's history and was an act of demagoguery. Rayo OKC has simply co-opted the kit and put it's own values that fit more with the much more conservative OKC market.
Yup knew it. At least give them some sort of identity instead of just being a carbon copy of the mothership. Jeez.
I like the thicker hoops. Makes them look less like us, lol. Fury kits look nice, too. If the Rayo OKC ones weren't carbon copies of the parent, I'd give them higher marks because they aren't bad outside of that. Surprised they even brought the rainbow over.
I kinda like the Rayo OKC kits, but maybe that's because I'm a Crew fan and anything is better than their Columbus flag inspired kit this year.
The black/grey 2nd (away) jersey actually looks more solid black than anything else. It is to be worn with yellow socks. It looks very good that way. Tonight the Strikers are supposed to wear the red/yellow hoops jersey. They will usually wear black shorts and socks with this jersey, but the MFC keeper will be in black shorts and socks, because of this the Strikers will be in red shorts with yellow socks along with the red/ yellow hoops. AFAIK they have never worn that combination before. There will be sunlight with a 7PM start. Maybe we can gain an advantage in that kit and blind the opposition for a bit.... The keepers have a choice of 4 or 5 colored jerseys and shorts. They should not clash with anyone else in the league. BTW, the color that big Bruno is wearing in the bottom pic is called "champagne". That is one of the colors that may be used.
It looked better than I thought it would. I liked it. The players and coaches are said to hate it. It was used tonight to accommodate MFCs keeper. We will probably not see it again.
They have traditionally worn black shorts. The red shorts just don't work. Not enough contrast with the shirt. The black is so much better
I recently saw a different Rayo OKC jersey that was all black with a red 'swoop' instead of the traditional lighting. I cannot find it now, but I think it looked pretty slick as an alternative jersey and would probably sell more than the rainbow one. Does anyone know which one I am talking about? EDIT: IIRC It was in the photo for the news article Q & A with Samaras. Maybe it was a practice jersey. The picture has recently changed however.
Only kits I know of are the white with red, the black with rainbow, and the gray with pink Sent from my SM-N915V using Tapatalk
Here this is it: https://www.facebook.com/RayoOKC/ph...2084501331681/465378450335619/?type=3&theater And here: https://www.facebook.com/RayoOKC/ph...2084501331681/459098354296962/?type=3&theater I think this would make a much better away kit, and sell better as well. Its not a swoop as I recalled just a more horizontal slant to the red band.
Anything would be better then the current jerseys. Maybe next time they'll give the team an identity instead of copying and pasting from the mothership.
