Nina sees another middle with Kelly at 4O on his crew again. Also, Chapman still absent from all league assignments.
Geiger is at a 2018 workshop for FIFA in Miami starting today and running through Friday. One would presume that precluded him from assignments on both weekends. http://www.fifa.com/development/new...-with-referees-joint-preparation-2781429.html
thought that may be the explanation. Same reason why Clattenberg was missing in England. Getting ready for summber gigs.
Show of hands: who thinks DOGSO for Watson's 2nd yellow? (VANvSKC) Sent from my LGLS996 using Tapatalk
http://matchcenter.mlssoccer.com/ma...c-vs-sporting-kansas-city/details/video/63543 Nah. Ball was travelling away from the goal and the touch was really heavy – would've probably had to cross it into the goal area versus taking a shot. Sidebar: Surely I'm not the only one that thinks it looks terrible when referees dick around and take 5–10 seconds to get a red card out of their back pocket? How hard is it to keep it in the other side one?
I think if this one is DOGSO: http://matchcenter.mlssoccer.com/ma...crew-sc-vs-houston-dynamo/details/video/63033 then Watson's foul has to be as well.
Completely different. Look at the angle/distance/speed of the ball in each video. In your example, the attacker falls on the ball; in this incident, the ball is nowhere near playing distance when the foul occurs.
Well, in the current climate, going 2CT makes it way less likely to get A) appealed and B) overturned.
I think the the angles are similar. The foul on the KC attacker occurs further out, far enough that if not for the foul he has enough time to catch up to that ball and take a narrow angle shot on an empty net. The Huston attacker is fouled well inside the PA but is also moving away from goal. When I first saw the clip last week I commented I was a bit surprised that it was called DOGSO because direction of play was not toward goal. A few other posters opined that this was clearly DOGSO, and PRO basically confirmed their analysis by making their play of the week http://www.proreferees.com/news-play-of-the-week-2016-week-8.php Pro writes: "The only criterion that can be argued is “direction of play” and this criterion is misleading. Yes, momentarily he does move away from goal as he attempts to take the ball around Deric, but if he is not fouled what would his next action be? A shot on goal or continue to run in the opposite direction?" So I'm thinking this play is similar - he is not moving toward goal, and admittedly is farther from the goal and the ball - but if not for the foul he has a shot on goal, in my opinion anyway, at the pro level this seems like an obvious goal scoring opportunity.
I hear that those pockets have 2 Velcros on each corner of the pocket so it makes it harder to pull the card out solidly
So I know at this level it isn't really the referees call, but what the hell is up with blue vs. blue in the NYC v MTL game? I know they are different shades, but if I've got those colors in my game I'm making somebody switch.
Sounds like Toledo is having a howler in Portland right now. Missed red card, missed handball that leads to a goal on the other end. And the equalizer was scored by Johnson who is should have been sent off. Admittedly I am at work and not watching in real time, I have it recording. But from what I'm reading and hearing on the radio feed it's not going well for Toledo. Anyone watching with more insight?
I think Toledo did fine. Johnson's tackle wasn't a red in my book, but I'll be curious if the DisCo says anything. Handball is complicated. I hate calling handballs, so I want it to be really deliberate, and this situation didn't meet that bar for me.
By this year's standards especially the Johnson tackle is Red. Two footed with force...not sure if he actually catches Valeri but it definitely far exceeds the necessary force required for the challenge or as Borg used to say "THAT ENDANGERS THE SAFETY OF THE OPPONENT and it's a RRRRRED CARD!"
http://matchcenter.mlssoccer.com/ma...-kansas-city-vs-la-galaxy/details/video/64068 Last night in KC Ashley Cole picks up 2 cautions in very quick succession. As soon as it becomes clear Penso is going to give him his second he is blocked by multiple Galaxy players, 2 of whom make non-violent but deliberate contact with him by putting their hands on his chest. Any chance the disco won't ignore this?
I don't understand why the referees in this sport allow themselves to be manhandled like that. At the very least that needs to be a caution. Do officials in any other sport allow the players to touch them like this? Of course Arena says everyone needs to have more common sense, which sounded like a shot at the referees. He should start with his players and maybe look at himself.
It seems like every year, PRO or whoever is in charge of referees makes it a point of emphasis for referees to deal with dissent and contact with officials and every year the referees fail to act. I remember last year they emphasized that contact with an official should be a red card and then we get what happened last night. Also players never cease to amaze me. Credit to Ashley Cole for at least knowing what he had done and walking off like a man. The rest of the LA team was comical.
I was astounded to see the level of contact between the players and Chris Penso, and that he seemed to do nothing about it. I would hope the DisCo would do something, but I think it unlikely. As far as Cole's delay & tackle - both were good yellow cards - I wonder if that's the MLS record for shortest interval between them?
I'm trying to decide if the Chris Rolfe tackle was actually more red or if that is just red at the level of games that I do. http://matchcenter.mlssoccer.com/ma...chicago-fire-vs-dc-united/details/video/63841
Wow hadn't seen that one. Pretty rude of Gilberto to stick his leg out under Rolfe's foot like that. Ok seriously this looks like an easy red with the benefit of replay.
