When: Saturday August 20 @ 7:00PM Where: Talen Energy Stadium TV: TCN Referee: Mark Geiger The Union face TFC, the 2nd place team (and PPG leader) in the east. First home appearance for Bedoya and Davies.
Did I miss something? I've never started a matchday thread before. I was sitting here watching the Olympics and realized the TFC game is in four days, so I thought I would take care of it. If I screwed something up, please let me know.
I have no present ability to pick loss. I find your lack of faith in my lack of faith disturbing..........
Oops! Sorry about that. I use the Tapatalk app which doesn't have any of the poll features...completely overlooked it. If a mod will kindly delete this thread, I will fix it...
This game is a measuring stick for where the Union are currently, and where they could potentially end up this season. They need a result to keep pace, and maintain their cushion from the sixth spot and also stay close to the top 3 in the east. A win would be a huge result. Not sure that the young backline can handle Giovinco and Altidore just yet. Though it should be noted that TFC tends to play more defensive and conservative away from BMO Field. The Union need to reestablish their home form as well. This is the start of a huge week for the Union. TFC will be a tough challenge. Columbus is a winnable road game given their form, or at the least a drawable game. Then SKC at home, which will likely be the usual ugly slug fest. After this it's one game a week for the rest of the regular season.
gonna miss this game which sucks because I was looking forward to this matchup.... but it's my daughter's first birthday and I couldn't weasel my way into going to the game post-party. Because I won't be there I'm predicting a fun game and a big win. will be watching at home.
I said loss, but thats less a no confidence vote in the U (as it usually is) and more I think Gio is too much for us and Altidore will body up on Marquez leaving Tribbett to get skinned. Are we still being coy with CJ's status? I've heard it presumed he failed the concussion protocol but haven't heard the team say it. I'd prefer he sit it out. Even if we lose, our playoff odd drop from 96 to 93%. I'm ok with all this.
After winning back to back spoons in the prediction league I decided to do the Union a favor and picked loss. Cause, you know...my picks have all the mojo and stuff that makes teams win after I pick loss. Thinking it will be a good game to see with both teams playing well right now and I'm bummed I'll miss it driving to Tennessee. Post some updates and clips come game time and do an SOB a solid if you can.
Serious. From the horse's mouth: http://www.proreferees.com/2016-mls-regular-season-assignments---week-24.php I had the same reaction, so I made sure to make a note of it in the original post for everyone's benefit.
Considering the Giovinco and Geiger double team, I'd be happy with a draw. Expectations not too high.
Well..................we were chanting for him at the last home game............... Careful what you wish for and all that.....
Lots of injuries for Toronto. From their site All season the club’s depth has been tested and that will be the case again this weekend in Philadelphia. A number of injuries to the backline have thrust the likes of Nick Hagglund and Josh Williams into starting roles. They could be joined by Danny Lovitz and Ashtone Morgan, depending on the status of Bloom, Morrow and Steven Beitashour. Don't wanna say must win...but, let's just win
Danny Lovitz went to a soccer power house don't overlook his impact - same school as Clint Irwin and Steven Kenney and me
Well, it's gonna be my first Union (and MLS) game as I'll be in Philly for work so I'm hoping/banking on a Union victory!
You picked a good one, crowd should be great, many MLS stars playing, etc. And of course, Geiger. Sometimes provides his own fireworks. He got literally chased off the pitch before
I've always been shocked that Marquez hasn't seen straight red in his Union career. This might be the game that changes that
