Nyarko is under contract and if all 9 players whose contract options are not picked and the 3 players out of contract are let go it's highly unlikely they will offload another 'core' player. If that's the case then they can just find a Euro club for Sean Johnson and pretend this club is a Hollywood reboot. There's a chance that a good amount of those declined and out of contract players will still be offered a spot here. if that's the case then maybe a trade to move Nyarko is plausible. Other than that, not happening and not our problem. Next subject.
What is "a good amount", in your opinion? The Fire have never welcomed back more than two players whose options they declined in a season. Looking at the list, I expect that trend to continue.
Not the point but if i were to predict, i'd say 4 or 5 will be offered a contract. I also did not use the word return.
I'd still doubt that, but even presuming you're correct, there's no real way of knowing who is offered a new contract. Mostly, the only thing that gets reported is who re-signs.

All of the players on these lists and I can't really think of anyone that I would want to have. The Free Agents are really just old and washed up. I would take Busch, Big Red, and Magee back provided that Big Red and Magee end up playing where they should. The re-entry draft is not very exciting either. Tornaghi coming back to back up SJ is not bad. Alston, Beitashour, and Sinovic as defenders seem ok. I don't think the Fire need someone like Boniek Garcia, but he and Jackson are probably the best of the midfield bunch unless you look at the older guys. And the forwards are not good except for maybe Urruti. And you can forget about the allocation list. Too expensive or just not coming to MLS and definitely not the Fire. That said, the Fire should probably not pass in the re-entry draft because it does seem like they should use their #1 pick somewhere.
I can't disagree, provided that they'd come back at friendlier prices as well, given their advanced ages. Magee's return would only be if Pauno plans to play a 2 forward formation. To do so in a 4-4-2, either Polster or Shipp likely would have to come off the bench, because neither are true box-to-box types in the center of midfield. [I'd like the fire to sign a starting-caliber CMF for a 5 man MF, regardless.] Given the truly craptacular nature of the defense, I'd think that there is more than one defender that is better than the immortal Eric Gehrig; I believe that as I type this, Eric fvkcing Gerhig is the best defender in the roster right now. In addition to the defenders that you listed here, I'd also think that Anibaba is better than Gehrig as well. People have to remember that the waiver/re-entry drafts aren't necessarily going to yield the "great" player in MLS so much as it will replace shitty players that were in the team with marginally less shitty ones. In other words, these drafts are to help make incremental improvements in an talent-deficient roster.
No love for Jalil and Marco? I wouldn't mind either of them in round 2 for a bargain. Urruti has a big raise due so that's why he's on that list.
Beita, Sinovic and Jalil would all be worth taking fliers on. Remember that the first phase of Re Entry requires teams to take a player at their budgeted number for the next season. Second phase allows the two parties to negotiate. I wouldn't be surprised if a couple of those guys are taken this week, but could see someone still being available next week.
I don't know where I said it (it's too early for me to remember things), but we need to fix the defense first. It's been abysmal for too long now. While we're at it I'd like for the Fire to FINALLY learn how to defend set pieces. For ********'s sake at least work on it.
Chris Shuler. Probably won't be healthy all year but could be worth it in the second round. So maybe take Beitashour in the first.
I would definitely pick up some defenders to compete for starting slots. Anibaba was a center back remember? He was a centerback who was played out of position on the right and then we all complained about how he wasnt a right back and then he was sent away for n ot being a good right back when we had Gibbs, Berry and Arne in front of Anibaba.
