Also, on Sunday program, there was a promo that IWSL youth teams could get up to 10 free tickets for this match. So they are doing what they can to put some butts in seats. I would be there, if I was there.

I guess it's good red stars don't play at home Sunday. I can't conveniently miss my layover flight.

What a great night tonight at Toyota Park and an excellent crowd. Red Stars win 3-1 on 3 very nice goals. the Red Stars offense finally looked like it is supposed to look.

Christen Press IMO is the best player in the NWSL. Period.
Vanessa Dibernardo has developed into one of the best pros in the league. If she doesn't get a call up to the full Nats team soon, something is wrong.
It's hard to pick POTM but Huerta's goal was awesome.

Danielle Colaprico I believe has started every game for Chicago since being drafted a couple of years ago and I believe should by now have the most minutes ever played by anyone in Red Stars history

Again, what an energetic and good crowd. I was surprised there were that many people there. Not Portland numbers, but very good for a Chicago warm Saturday evening. I had a blast.

Now let's get Chicago a Championship!

The goals were amazing. The Red Stars OB-Spirit attack matchups were amazing. I think I give Michelle Dalton POTM, cause she was super composed and also amazing, especially since she has been on the bench for the past month.

Maybe so, but every time the defense would pass the ball back to her we in the stands would either hold our breath or cover our eyes with our hands. Same when the ball was crossed into the box.
But she did pull through and actually made a couple very nice saves.

There were A LOT of questionable decisions made with those back passes and other moves in the back. Considering how squirrely - I thought she did admirably not to get rattled.

    My Votes:

    MVP - Christen Press
    Defender - Alyssa Naeher
    Rookie - Casey Short
    Unsung Hero - Vanessa DiBernardo
Iron Woman of Character - Dani Colaprico

I think we've had this discussion of what constitutes are rookie before - guess Short qualifies by Red Stars definition, and I think she's been outstanding.

I have not seen enough games to vote on this, but from what I have seen I agree on DiBernardo toiling away quietly. I was hoping she would get a call up to the WNT but think that may be passing now.

I am hoping we see at least 40 players in January camp. If yes, she should certainly be one of them. Of course, if Fed cannot come to terms with new CBA by end of year, maybe there will be a tremendous number of new faces in January.

Oh, they couldn't center the "Chicago Red Stars" sign in the back? :p

They're exactly at midfield, and the team flags are centered correctly. It's the sign that's wrong.
Maybe it's a scrolling e-marquee, and the photographer was 1 second off the beat.

I think it's supposed to be off-center for the part you're talking about. See off to the left they have a score section? (currently reading 0 CHI 5:10 WAS 0) I'm guessing that's just the default display setting, with the "sign" you're talking about centered in the non-score section of display.

The sign is centered. The score and time part are part of the sign with the Red Stars name and it's exactly centered.

Chicago may be out of the playoffs, but their excellence has certainly gained attention: Chicago leads all NWSL teams with FIVE players called in to the most recent camp - yep, even more than Portland's four (Kling out)!

Yep. and maybe they would have had 6 if not for DiBernardo suffering whatever happened to her in semi-final. Still hoping she gets a look next time. I am really looking forward to these friendlies as we will HAVE to see some of these folks getting game time, not just camp time.

I believe a few days ago Dan Lauletta twittered that DeBernardo would have played in the Championship game had the Red Stars made it despite getting hurt in the semi. And that the decision to not bring her into camp had nothing to do with her injury.

What does the talented kid have to do to be noticed by Jill Ellis?

I get the feeling that if Ellis wasn't limited to 8 non-contract players at once, DiBernardo may have been called in over Sullivan.
