Caught the last 20 minutes or so of it. I'm not sure how things went in the first half but what I saw was pretty embarrassing, outplayed for the most part. The red card we got was truly stupid... a guy who's supposedly our captain losing his cool like that? Brutal. That run to the goal at the end involved a Henry-level handball, nice finish though. Why was the Thai coach crying there at the end, lol, they're likely making it in anyway...
Agreed about the fans being annoying. But, hey, we are exactly the most likable bunch, so whatever. In the long run, it's in everyone's interest for other AFC teams to develop.
Got it. I hope the Thais don't get screwed and make it to the final as one of the 5 best 2nd place teams.
It wads pretty sad to see Thai fans all booing and putting their thumbs down to our players when they were bowing to the crowd at the end. I understand they had their frustrations but that should have been directed towards to the ref (which was) but not our players. They were going berserk to a group of 18 year olds Either way, our technical team needs to review this match again (from our team's perspectives). The performance overall was poor and there were some scenes of dirty plays which should not be seen again. Specifically Kim Min-ho #4 was not good to see throughout the match. 1) In first half where he got a yellow, he made a dirty challenge and made the situation worse by trying to pick a fight with the Thai player. 2) He kicked/stamped on a Thai player when no one was watching (caught on camera though). I understand why the players got so revved up - those Thai fans were annoying (in our perspectives) and the those Thai players (and staff) took the match as if it was some grand final match. But that doesn't make excuses for some of the unsportsmanlike behavior. Which also takes me to Ahn Ik-soo. The technical committee definitely needs to review his performance. He did not settle the players down when it was needed. It was obvious he didn't want to do that. Ahn Ik-soo, as much of a fan of him I am, is a man more suited for a senior team (club) than these youth teams. The FA is not going to fire him nor is he going to stand down. Then they should be helping him with a review of this match. It was such a frustrating performance overall (for the level we have)
Indeed #4's behavior was embarrassing to himself and to the team. It would have been one thing if he faced Diego Costa but it was pathetic to see him trying to intimidate these smaller Thai players. I'd this the best team we can field for U-20? I insincerely hope not.
First of all, screw thai football fans in general. After the 2012 olympics, i thought that the mexican football fans were annoying as fcuk, but the thais take it to a whole new level. We were outplayed by thailand today which should say a lot about An Ik-soo's managing skills. Our u20 and u17 team have been crap under An Ik-soo and Choi Jin-chul.
Personally, it was refreshing to see 김민호 engage in the dark arts. Our kids teens to be way too nice leading to meek defenders in our senior side.
Not sure if you're being facetious but I believe there's a vast middle ground between being a sheep and a thuggish asswipe.
With Lee SW doing basically nothing until his FIFA ban plays out in January, maybe we should have picked him in this squad to keep himself in game shape...
Which ones are the most promising players in the roster, guys? The squad landed Ho Chi Minh city already, had a first training there. They'll play a warm-up match with Vietnam U21 selection on Nov 17th before play 2 matches in the tournament on 22nd and 24th. Group A: U21 Vietnam selection, U21 Singapore, U21 Thailand Group B: U21 HAGL (comprises of many youth players from Arsenal JMG academy), U21 Myanmar, U18 Korea. This is one of the biggest tournament for U21 teams in South East Asia.
Our U-18 beat U-21 HAGL by 1-0 from Kim Jung-hwan Kim Gun-woong played (next year's Ulsan player). I wonder how he went? I also see Cong Phuong(?) haha the "Vietnamese Messi" from AFC U-19 champs a year ago where they got thrashed 6-0 by us (even though we were managed by the Kim Sang-ho).
ahn iksoo is an awful manager. home advantage and 3 years of preparation ensure that it will never get ugly with him but this generation will underachieve massively under his leadership.
Korea U18 beat Myanmar U21 2-0 in a friendly tournament in Vietnam. Kim Jeong-hwan & Kang Ji-hun get on the score sheet.— Steve Han • 한만성 (@realstevescores) November 22, 2015
Our U-18 team beat Singapore U-21 by 3-0 from Lee Dong-jun (x2) & Oh In-pyo (Kim Gun-woong has been in action for all the games now I think) We now play HAGL U-21 in the final.
U-19 upcoming Schedule: March: Training camp in Germany. Two friendlies with Germany U-19 NT May: Suwon JS Cup participation. Teams likely to participate - Japan, Brazil and France U-19's.
