Okazaki had his best career season at Mainz as a lone striker. He just needs to be served on the run

well he definitely isn't as good as Bacca and not physically similar, but we don't have a better alternative for that position. Lately Vahid has tried Kanazaki I think which wasn't even a striker - since he came back from Europe he's been scoring like crazy in the league though

I think he touches the ball first... from that gif is hard to tell.

Edit: I saw the gif a couple of times, i think the ball change direction....it wasnt a penalty.

Ah, that's the action? I was expecting something like a miss from 3 cm lol
Either way, it's somewhat good to lose after the case of the last match, hopefully it'll keep the players feet on the ground. Vahid has some thinking to do before the qualifiers.

If one of Japan's most fearless young strikers decides NOT to shoot in that position, then it is hopeless.

Japan was playing very good nothing to worrie about. The match overall was very interesting. Bosnia was quite good either and it`s not that Bosnia is a bad team. They are very strong in every european qualify for 6-8 years. So not a shame to lose a little more important FRIENDLY.

Japan is not Germany and even they loose 1-3 against Slovenia which is without doubt little weaker then Bosnia but those compares are nonsenses. The defense is a continueing problem. I think Makino is a better choice then Morishige but maybe both are not good enough. Yoshida is solid nothing more, but that`s okay but with a weaker partner like Morishige it`s hard to hold a clean sheet. On the other Hand we are missing Uchida ! H. Sakai / G. Sakai are both okay but no compare to Atsuto but they are both young mabe they improve a little more.

The overall game was very cool from Japan, good passes, many chances (something like almost every game ^^) but this time the chances werent to clear....the Bosnia defenders were almost every time between goal, striker and ball so there were not every time the clear chance and the last thing from Asano...the guy is 21 and this was his first starter game at home in Japan....maybe he was nervous like hell. It was a chance and he wasted it,nothing more, nothing less.
Japan is on a good track back !

Wasn't able to watch todays match properly, because streaming just too choppy until something like 70 minutes. Even after the howler, i still have a tons of expectation to Asano.

Looking at these, are there any reliable source that summarize Japan NT expected goals stats per match? I'd love to see if there are any improvement on their performance on the final third in the Halilhodzic reign.

Yeah, if they won they might have become too overconfident.

Beauty turn by Kobayashi Yu there. Kagawa-esque turn:).
Yoshida is really awful today as far as i've observed. Lost his man in two important occasion leading to BIH goals and sloppy distribution as well:(

Besides losing his man on the goals, Yoshida had his usual "doh" moment when he tried to take on a player which led to a dangerous counterattack.
