There is no way possible that he is worse than Raymond Lee. Maybe this is the kind of player that you bring in, see how he does on U2. You never know - being able to see Richie Marquez perform at a lower tier than MLS gave him his shot.

That seems worth it if he could be placed on a long term deal and developed. Kid has a lot of upside.

Rainbow FC seems like the most corrupt soccer club in the world. All transfers have strings attached.

He's definitely worth that. He wasn't perfect this year but I think many of us forget he is only 18!!! With time and proper coaching, he does have the potential of someone like Fabian Castillo.

Yeah, seriously. But only a teenager would actually think it was a good idea to do those flips over and over and over again.

Is there a Union 2 thread? Just thinking big picture, what is the thinking going forward to fill the roster spots? Obviously draft, Academy, players who otherwise would be loaned, trialists, first team pine riders and shrimp eaters. Any insight?

Easy, take everyone currently on the roster, put them on the Bethlehem roster, start over with Union roster. Problem solved.

I assume that some of the Harrisburg guys that the Union like will be signed to play for U2. It also is possible that without the Union's backing Harrisburg might fold. I'm surprised that I haven't heard anything about that possibility.

I agree that Harrisburg might lose players to BSFC, but I doubt the City Islanders go out of business. The owner has said they are committed to continuing without Union help, and has even said they will be staying in the area and not relocating as discussed before. My guess is they'll be in Lancaster.

Admittedly, I have not done my research... Will U2 be able to cannibalize amateur players who normally play for Reading? Are PDL players fair game as unpaid rostered players?

I don't disagree that is the hope but I would believe that a good deal of funding for the team came from the Union. Plus, I would think that at least some portion of fans attended to see "Union" players. An unaffiliated USL team might go the way of the Riversharks. . .

Was there ever demand for HCI? I seem to remember they had pretty poor attendance but I'm unsure if that had to do with the team itself or the stadium situation.

That's my point. I think they were only getting about 3000 fans per game. With less revenue and less fans due to the Union pulling out, what's left? I'm not sure HCI will be able to compete in a USL 2.0 world.

    http://cityislanders.com/club-news/...-2015-season-recap-by-head-coach-bill-becher/

In correlation with the team’s success on the pitch came an exponential increase in attendance at Skyline Sports Complex. Since 2014, the Islanders saw a 41% increase in total attendance, leaping from 29,906 fans to 42,285 fans in just one season and achieving an increase in average attendance per game from 1,993 fans to 2,766 fans.

And no, I don't think the City Islanders had any increase in attendance because of Union affiliation.

You can't take two years and make a trend. Look at average attendance over a longer period:

    2005: 1604
    2006: 1781
    2007: 1724
    2008: 1684
    2009: 1857
    2010: 1666
    2011: 1404
    2012: 1452
    2013: 1456
    2014: 1941
    2015: 2430

I agree the Islanders' attendance has nothing to do with the Union, since we saw no uptick after 2010. However, attendance has been lackluster, considering the stadium only seats 4,000. Yes, they had an uptick for one year, but that isn't much to base a trend off of, and those games are still almost half empty.

Worst case scenario for Harrisburg would be a move to another market - everything I've read indicates they will be fine and the only real issue is the stadium. they existed for years without the union and I'm sure they will continue to exist without them going forward.

Not sure what Harrisburg will do without stars like Antoine Hoppenot and next year's 3rd round draft pick bolstering their ticket sales.

Pretty sure Antoine is future HCI player-coach material.

They've been around for 10 years and now attendance is increasing. I'm pretty sure that's a decent indicater that they'll stick around. The owner could be lying but he just said their staying.

Nogs' postgame quotes say he'll be back for preseason.
