Thank you for the thoughtful response to my very sarcastic post. I will answer in kind (as it is tiring being so f'n cynical about the Fire, who I have followed and been a season ticket holder of since day 1). As for Paunovic, I liked his hire (it was bold and not just an MLS retread), but his dumping and lambasting of Harry Shipp was disquieting. Also the dumping of Joevin Jones, who seemed to fit perfectly in Paunovic's style of play, bothered me. Meira-we'll see. I have mild optimism. He must be better that any other defender we currently have, or have had recently. Kappelhoff will probably be our best signing of the offseason. I have hopes for him. Ramos-I agree that he is a project. However, it was that Paunovic tried to sell the signing (only a loan, of course) by saying how Ramos impressed him in the U-20 World Cup, even though Ramos had only 40 minutes of garbage time when Brazil was already ahead that has soured me on the loan. It seemed like complete huffing. Also, the Fire have had horrible, horrible, horrible experiences with Brazilian players. Every single one of them was awful (except for the Fire's Thiago, who was merely pretty bad). That said, I am less concerned about our foreign signing (all of whom have potential to work out) than I am about our MLS and USL signings (scrubs from Colorado and USL goalkeepers) and draft picks (which are always a crap shoot).
