It appears that the TFC player signing I hinted at Friday is getting close to done. Canadian international @HansonBoakai about to make move.— Duane Rollins (@24thminute) November 10, 2015 Hanson Boakai rumoured to be signing with TFC soon. He's on their discovery list, so unless they relinquish his rights, he has to sign with them (I'll never get over that's angle concept). For those not familiar with him, he's been a pro with FC Edmonton since 16 and is a 96'. Buckets of skill, but questions about his maturity this year. Personally, I'm not sure that Greg Vanney will give young Canadians a chance over crap veterans like Robbie Findley yet, but I can hope.
Or he could not sign with them. Lots of players on discovery lists never get signed. fwiw, these threads tend to "work better" when updates are posted here after transactions are finalized, rather than just "rumoured."
That's why I posted the tweet that it was close to getting done by a media guy. I understand that being on a discovery list doesn't mean the player will sign, but in this instance it's more than that.
Neglected to start this the other day, @JasonMa. Seems like the big theme of the two previous offseasons has been repatriating Yanks (Bradley in 2013-14, Jozy and Kljestan last year, etc.). Not sure there any any left at this point.
Not outside of goalkeepers and Fabian Johnson. Maybe Bedoya. Wonder if a theme of this offseason will be offloading the repatriated Yanks who sucked.
Since this thread usually contains rumors, Brad Davis to SKC is being rumored for this winter http://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2015/...trade-captain-brad-davis-sporting-kansas-city
I don't really get that move for KC. You have Nemeth playing out there right now. I guess you could get depth, but I don't see the value in having a slow winger who is good at striking dead balls when you already have a slow winger who is good at striking dead balls on the right.
As long as that's just the original rumor still and not new information about how it's likely. Don't want the guy.
It's a little odd from an on the field aspect of it, yes, especially based on his players union salary this past year.
Wahl reports that a Championship club has offered $3m for Zardes. He also reports that Osvaldo Alonso is on the trading block. http://www.si.com/planet-futbol/201...-gyasi-zardes-osvaldo-alonso-darlington-nagbe
http://www.si.com/planet-futbol/201...-gyasi-zardes-osvaldo-alonso-darlington-nagbe Alonso being shopped around. (and some other tidbits)
Chicago is where we typically dump our DP/near-DP players . Two years ago I would be dismayed by this news, now it seems inevitable.
Heard it here 1st. Junior Flores is in talks w/ a poss loan move to @dcunited, @OrlandoCitySC or @FCDallas n interest in Turkey too #USMNT— The Bolivian Yank (@TheBolivianYank) November 10, 2015 James
Rumor of BWP going on loan to Bournemouth. Irish Mirror article, I think there's a link in the November 12 news thread.
Porto linked to Zardes what are your thoughts? I I know he is big and fast but does he hold up the ball can he play as a second striker?
I think that's good. I wasn't sure if he was good enough for their attention. Those Portuguese clubs have a magic touch with players. Not that it could help Adu...
Oguchi Onyewu? Zach Thornton? Those two plus Adu are the Yanks I remember going to Portugal. Oh, and Arturo Alvarez.
Well, I think a second striker should be the pinpoint shooter of the pair, and he's not that. He's a hard worker these days, has a great engine, consistent but not spectacular. The top Portuguese teams used to like flashier South Americans, and he's definitely not that. For me, he's more of a Bundesliga-type player, I think he'd do well there on any team from mid-table down. He'd be a decent enough addition, but expect a player who works hard more than he wows. But maybe that's what you guys want, not sure.
Well if we want to dig deep you can add Tony Taylor, Gale Agbossoumonde, Caleb Patterson-Sewell(I think he is still there), and any other players who had Traffic sports connections really.
Patterson-Sewell has been out of contract since the summer. Don't forget Bjorn Maars Johnsen, who scored a bunch of goals in the second division before departing for Bulgaria. Bryan Arguez was another highly successful Traffic product who played in Portugal. Greg Garza, also with traffic, had a few appearances for Estoril. Sergio Duarte made a first-team appearance for Nacional in 12/13 and has been on loan with four different lower-division clubs since. Steven Silva Rodrigues has played for a bunch of lower division clubs. That's all I have off the top of my head.
Is this list supposed to inspire us about the level of stardom Portuguese league brings to former USA residents?
Bradley looking for a move? http://gazzettaworld.gazzetta.it/ne...y-still-hurting-roma-departure/?refresh_ce-cp
Those quotes seem fake. I can't imagine Bradley saying "I'm not happy, but I take responsibility for my choice." I have an unhealthy skepticism for all Italian sports news, so that's probably factoring in.
I had similar thoughts. I tried to look for the original article in Italian but couldn't find anything. However there are other online articles with quotes from him talking about Roma's chances to win the league, De Rossi and Totti. Maybe they were lifted from a print article?
