A look at the fight for CL and EL spots. http://www.espnfc.co.uk/blog/espn-f...league-and-europa-league-qualification-battle
No Fellaini for the next three games - with Blind at CB could hurt us at set-pieces against the very few teams in the league who have two physical centre-backs
Had United done just a little better in that dept, they wouldn't be in the predicament they find themselves at the moment. It goes double when we consider their record vs top 6 teams. http://www.manchestereveningnews.co...otball-news/man-utd-van-gaal-norwich-11290324
City have been kind enough to keep the door open for us, so we'll see. In the end though, we only have ourselves to blame for whatever happens: top 4 and the title were there for the taking and we failed to take advantage of other teams failures by dropping so many points where we shouldn't have. That's entirely on us...
If we get the CL and keep this ********ing manager.... Only silver lining would be knocking City out of 4th and leaving Pep in the Europa. But I'd much rather we miss out if it gets LVG fired.
If Woodward had any sense, Van Gaal should be out either way, yet it appears that he'll stay either way. Missing out on the top 4 this season absolutely doesn't guarantee anything on that score. We need CL regardless for the money and our transfer plans this summer. Got nothing to do with Van Gaal: it's all about the club. That's what this whole run in has been about.
To highlight how low the bar is for fourth place this season given that two wins / 69 points will do it (and 2nd/3rd for that matter); 2013/2014 (when Moyes didn't make it) City 86 Liverpool 84 Chelsea 82 Arsenal 79 If all win their remaining games; Leicester 83 Spurs 73 Arsenal 71 Us 69
If you're a true fan of MU I can't believe you would wish on us missing CL football. I understand that LVG hasn't lived up to expectations, but to wish us missing CL is absurd.
Are you saying that sacking LvG for £5m would actually be saving us money? Now that's something Team Glazer understands.
My gut feeling is that LvG will leave by 'mutual consent' at the end of this season regardless of where we finish in the league.
+5000 TOP RED POINTS FOR YOU When your argument ever involves the phrase "true fan" just delete it all and turn off your computer.
So, hold up for a second. If United wins their next two matches, they are 4th place regardless of anything else?
that Mourinho rumour has been doing the rounds for a while. he is claimed to be in a win win position whether we offer him or not. i.e. A) money while not working(if we don't offer him) or B) getting his supposed dream job and having an offer 'guaranteed' no creditable source for it though
Pretty much: nothing is guaranteed of course, but I exect us to be much efficient than we were against Norwich. That game was textbook one where we struggled all season long, with us having the lion share of he possession but we were unable to break them down and create chances. With no Martial or Rashford to call upon, it always going to be as it turned out. Things should be very different Tuesday with Rashford probably back up top (and hopefully Martial if fit). What really worries me about that game coming up is West Ham's physical style that could give us real problems. With Fellani not available, I hope we'll see Schneiderlin play in midfield and Herrera as well. Even if the latter is not really the physical type, he desn't back down from a scrap, plus we'll obviously need his passing and driving ability as well on the offensive end.
