http://soccerly.com/article/joselopezsports/pele-mexico-brazil-will-advance Shit, it's the Pelé curse.
Thought I would make a thread for news and thoughts not relating to Mexico. I think this will be a very competitive WC. Looking at the groups from the past two WCs or so I think there are much less easy groups. I attribute it to the emerging of some dark horse teams (Switzerland/Colombia/Belgium.) They may not deliver in the end but it will be fun to watch.
They are cutting it close with the stadiums. Taken from Skyscrapercity Brazilian officials are giving up on some unfinished World Cup projects http://www.washingtonpost.com/world...e52c2c-d17e-11e3-937f-d3026234b51c_story.html
What a waste all that Money could have been used to support the weak, the unprivileged the millions of Kids??? Weak sauce .....
The 2nd leg of that WC qualifier between Sweden and Portugal from last year was on ESPN2(?) today.. CR7 truly sliced Sweden's defense in the 2nd half of that match. Dude was brilliant. That said, I think people truly underestimate how good this current Portugal side is. Sure, CR7 scored the hat trick but he was given some great passes, which led to those goals. I think that I'm just as excited for the Portugal- Germany match as I am Ghana's opening match. Actually, I wish that the matches were reversed and that Portugal played the US first; so they can go ahead and knock the US out of the group with 4 or 5 goals....
Isn't that the case with every big international sports tournament, though? I mean, I get that the situation in Brazil is not perfect to say the least, but the arguments that are being used to be against this World Cup are mostly cliches and problems that are expected in every big city/country. No mames.
Ghana and Portugal wins in the first group game would be ideal Portugal, Ghana, Ecuador are the 3 outside of mex teams I hope do really well
CR7 is gonna have a field day against that soft nads defense. Germany vs Portugal is gonna be a close one, but gotta give the advantage to ze germans. Their midfield > Portugal's midfield. That Ghana first game though, Gyan hat trick
