Luke Mulholland joins Jeff Antinella at Real Salt Lake. http://m.realsaltlake.com/news/2014/01/real-salt-lake-signs-midfielder-luke-mulholland
That's great for Luke. Not so great for the Rowdies, obviously. It's not that often you see a guy start in the PDL, play really well, land in D3, play really well, earn a chance in D2, play really well, and then move up to MLS. The progression isn't often that clear and structured. If he can stick there, he'll be a good example of how things ought to work. Good luck to him. Luke's a good guy.
Sad to lose Luke. He was definitely one of our best players. The guy played at 100% every game. Good luck to you in MLS Luke.
MLS Ticker: Real Salt Lake sign Rowdies standout Mulholland, Whitecaps make deal with Crew, and more http://www.soccerbyives.net/2014/01/standout-mulholland-whitecaps.html
Luke has been more than a great player for the Rowdies. His charisma - both on and off the field - made him arguably the most recognizable face on the team. Especially with the female fans I know. A team - even one operating at a lower division - benefits from having a marketable face they can plaster on their website, promo material, and show front-and-center at fan events. Any thoughts on who could emerge to best fill that role?
Being from Philly and and a Union fan the Union missed out on a huge pick up to which they have a connection to. While in College Luke played for PDL side Reading United which is affiliated as the Unions PDL club. Coming from NCAA DII he has certainly and solidly rose his way through the Ranks playing in top PDL NCAA DI players then to Division3 where he moved quickly to stardom at D2 NASL. He has been a top player at every level he has been and no reason why he can not be successful in the MLS.
Defender JP Rodriques re-signs with the Rowdies. http://www.nasl.com/article/uuid/1o...3r/defender-jp-rodrigues-returns-with-rowdies http://tbo.com/sports/rowdies/rowdies-bring-back-rodrigues-20140130/
JP hasn't played outdoor professionally since he last played with the Rowdies in 2012. Hope is he isn't too rusty.
He should be fit,he was playing in the MISL for the Rochester Lancers. http://www.rochesterlancers.com/profile.php?id=57
Two different sports. Two different fitness and skill demands. It is one thing if you are doing both continuously, but he took off a whole outdoor season.
Yeah not to excited for this signing. He was a fair player but we need someone tall strong and fast in the center to keep up with the speed that ate us up last year. I might be wrong but I remember him as slugish. Maybe Wagner is here to fill this spot. Lots of forwards so far...hopefully more quality defenders to come.
Sorry for slightly OT but I thought its offseason and some here might care. Luke Muholland featured with the first team in a intra-squad game for RSL this weekend. He misses the sitter about half way in but he does look dangerous.
http://rowdiessoccer.com/index.php?id=52&newsid=6193 Doesn't make it absolutely clear, but my impression is that Campbell's playing days are behind him and is now a full time assistant coach.

Wallace at one time had some promise, not sure really how good he might be. Yamada and Del Do have also been signed. (Sorry I am too lazy to paste the link). Del Do is about worthless up front and seems unlikely to get much playing time considering our offseason acquisitions at forward. We need another defender or two. One preferably considerably younger than Yama.
They likely brought back Devin Del Do for what he brings off the field since we're pretty much stacked up front. We definitely need more defenders. There are sure to be quite a few trialists that the club will be looking at during our preseason matches.
What would he bring 'off the field'? Is he the water boy? Is he going to hawk tickets door to door? You sign players that can play.
Still cant beleive that the Union did not go after him. While in College he spent his summers playing for Union PDL affiliate Reading so they know how good he can be and can bring some excitement to the offense from the Mid Field
Luke apparently got hurt in practice: https://twitter.com/SlalomSkier10/status/433693914172620800/photo/1
http://www.rowdiessoccer.com/news/d...tonight-in-first-preseason-match#.UxMwdIVkXEY And the preseason is under way. Did anyone make it out to the match? Come on George, I know you were there. Mostly familiar faces last night, albeit with liberal substitution. No trialists, just players under contract. Not a great result, but I understand that Ricky is getting everyone a look.
http://www.rowdiessoccer.com/news/detail/uuid/x0cahj24qrcx195kr1k4nbat1/gameday-rowdies-visit-ut Rowdies beat UT 3 - 0 Saturday night. Mass substitution at Minute 60 brought in 2 or 3 defense trialists and Ryan Thompson's backup. Keith Savage scored early [3'] and then it was Georgi [24'] and then Del Do [63'], who was part of that big substitution.
