Rhinos defeat Western Mass 2-1 AET. One view of the match, I am not sure if he was actually there: http://nesoccertoday.com/?p=25743 Here is Jeff DiVeronica's take, I know he was there: http://www.democratandchronicle.com/story/sports/soccer/2014/05/14/rhinos-edge-western-mass/9111059/ Total shots in the match were 16-3 for Rochester. It was 2-1 at the end of the first half. Sounds a lot like Western Mass put 8-10 people behind the ball and Rochester could not find a way through. Lilly also said that he started 3 regulars. I like the idea of having and establishing depth, but the 1st half sounds like it was dreadful. They will play Reading United AC at home in the next round.
Today at Pittsburgh. Here is a chance to get another away victory. Pittsburgh is in last place. Score early and often I say. Here is looking for 3 points! The 4th Round of the US Open Cup draw has been announced. The winner of the Rochester-Reading United match will get DC United. In Rochester if they win, in DC if Reading wins.
0-1 win at Pittsburgh. 0-1 loss at home vs Sacramento. Last 8 games have produced 7 matches with points, but only 7 goals. That is too much to ask of a defense. They need to score. Next up is Reading United AC in the USOC.
http://www.democratandchronicle.com.../rhinos-seek-urgency-richmond-visits/9747377/ Devo's thoughts about tonight vs Richmond. They really need to press. They picked up another Rev player for a one game loan.
1-3 Home loss to Pittsburgh is not a good thing. The Rhinos are about to embark on a 5 games in 11 day stretch. 11 June @ LAG II 14 June @ Arizona 17 June vs DC United 20 June vs Dayton 22 June @ okc Ouch.
vs Pittsburg - L 11 June @ LAG II - W 14 June @ Arizona - L 17 June vs DC United - W 20 June vs Dayton - W 22 June @ okc - D @ New England - L vs Charlotte - L 7 matches in 17 days. That crazy. 1 - 1 in the Open Cup. 2-1-2 in League play. The problem is that their two losses were to teams that they should have handled easily. Missed opportunities will come back and haunt this team in playoff seeding.
I has been a while since I posted here. The Rhinos are doing ok. They have a very good defense, but can not score. That being said, if they make the playoffs, they will not be an easy out. The defense is capable of shutting out any team, and if they can sneak in a goal, they could beat anyone.
Sorry for the absence, Rhinos secure the 6th playoff spot on the final day of the season with a 2-0 home victory over Wilmington. They get to play LAG II in the first round. The match will be free to spectators.
