Oooo, Galaxy in Fresno March 15? Me likey. Playing in a baseball stadium, but it's a nice newer park, where the Grizzlies (Giants AAA affiliate) play. March is probably the best time of year to visit Fresno, if any
HMMMMMMMM.....Tucson, Portland and Fresno........................doubt they will prepare the Quakes to get ready for play Toluca but we need as many games as possible so I guess its a positive.
Not a bad ballpark, just be sure to lock your car. It only seats about 12,500 for soccer. This will be the first game featuring two MLS teams in Fresno. In past years, there have been games with one MLS team playing either the local PDL Fuego or playing a Mexican team. There is talk around here, if there is a good turnout, of maybe having some sort of "99 Cup" tournament in future years. There is a preliminary game featuring the Fuego, who play most of their home games at Chukchansi Park. For what it's worth, and likely not much, the local paper (Fresno Bee) said the game might be televised, but that they were only in "preliminary" discussions. The game will be a sellout I am sure. The Fuego consistently draw 4,000 + per game, which is great for the PDL. Chukchansi Park has a small historical tie to the San Jose Earthquakes. Former NASL Quakes General Manager John Carbray is the person who was most instrumental in bringing AAA baseball to Fresno in the 1990s. He also was the the person most closely associated with getting this ballpark built in downtown Fresno. He worked more than a decade to get it done. He has since sold the team and no longer has any association with the team or the stadium, but if not for him, Chuckchansi Park (the sponsor is one of the local casinos) would not exist.
Yeah, they said on the news cast the other night that the Quakes reserves were playing the Fuego at 4, so I would think that would mean that the first team will be facing the Filth later that evening.
I wonder if they are going to give distinct areas for ACB and the Ultras... ACB members are already talkin trouble on twitter.

According to the Fresno Grizzlies facebook post: Note: Galaxy supporters' clubs will be in section 107, while Earthquakes supporters' clubs will be in section 130.
I will be in section 124, which is right behind our bench. Probably why the Quakes supporters are in 130. At least they have an easy out to the parking lot from there. Even though that is the right field corner, it does come all the way down to field level if I remember correctly.
Not bad, they just mentioned the game again on the news down here. Over 4,000 tickets sold this morning.
Why? 130 is one solid section from top to bottom. 107 has a walkway running right through it about a third of the way up separating the section in 2 parts. I'd think the Ultras would want the solid section to do their thing in.
