ah ok then...you win a prize...lol I had a Dukes t-shirt once while in Acapulco and a street vendor bought the shirt from me right off my back for $15. I told my wife that I had only paid $5 for it new...she laughs to this day over that story. I was much younger in 1995 and actually had a body...lmao
Speaking of farm clubs, it's kind of sad the we aren't in Buffalo anymore. The Brooklyn/Binghamton/Buffalo connection was great for those years that we had it.
In other news, quite a nice month/month and a half of baseball we just had. This is a fun team to watch and I hope the trade deadline doesn't destroy what's happening. There is a real shot at .500 ball by the end of the year.
I'd agree with you...but that's only if Ike Davis can get a hit. And I think that we have the worst home record in the NL.
Holy crap: you're even worse than Miami so far. Yet your road record is best in your division, and behind only St. louis & Pittsburgh in the NL.
He is either Lastings Milledge or Jeff Kent. I fear he is the latter and we have about a decade of beiing killed by him on the horizon
Well, I can understand wanting to stay in the majors, but... Valdespin was sent down Saturday after his average plummeted to .188. The demotion came one day after he made a mental gaffe. In a tie game, he was used as a pinch hitter for Jeremy Hefner in hopes that he might hit a home run. Instead, he tried to bunt his way on before eventually striking out. If you want to stay in the majors, don't hit .188, and don't improvise when you get to the plate.
Juan Lagares is a joy to watch patrolling the outfield. I hope his bat catches up to his fantastic defensive skills. Also hoping the Mets have a second half this season that matches the first half from last season. The pitching has been fun to watch, especially Harvey and Hefner when he is on. I'd like to at least see them in shouting distance in September to build on for next season.
Dice-K in New York! He's starting tonight!! Mets Sign Daisuke Matsuzaka - ESPN This will be exciting. Good luck!!!
If New York Mets ace Matt Harvey really were Gotham City's Dark Knight, we've reached the moment in his super-hero story where he's hit a low point and will need to muster all his strength to recover. At least, that's if the reports are true. According to Mike Francesa of WFAN, Harvey has a partially torn UCL in his pitching elbow and is bound for the disabled list. Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal verified that report and added that the Mets haven't decided yet whether Harvey needs Tommy John surgery. An elbow injury? Possibly Tommy John? For the bright spot of the Mets season? For the NL starting pitcher in the All-Star game? That's the last thing any Mets fan — and really, any baseball fan — wants to hear. Harvey has an 2.27 ERA and the fourth most strikeouts in baseball in this, his breakout season. He did, however, get roughed up in his latest start — giving up a season-high 13 hits on Sunday in 6 2/3 innings against the Detroit Tigers. He took his fifth loss of the season. It was reported by Marc Carig earlier on Monday that Harvey had an MRI. He was said to be suffering from forearm tightness after that last start. The Mets will be addressing the injury in a press conference Monday afternoon.
