Well it makes sense for keepers...they can start overseas instead of competing for a back-up role in NWSL. Maybe Stengel is the player to be named later in the Amber Brooks trade from BM.
If someone has an International slot Colpitts from Va Tech is a nice option. Someone should sign Kopmeyer as their color person.
I haven't looked at the list, but I assume Dees isn't on it. I heard recently that she has told people she's done. It's too bad, she had a great senior year. But, for her I guess it's on to other things.
Here's All White Kit's ranking, including designations for international slots: http://www.allwhitekit.com/?p=12711
I have to say, I get why Chicago is taking DiBernardo so high but I would have a hard time ranking her #4. Yes she has a hammer of a right leg and is a nice play maker but she is a little small to play inside and not speedy enough to move outside.
She didn't declare for the draft, and in an interview in November said she wants to get on with her life. She called NWSL too sketchy a way to make a living. She finishes up this Spring.
I know, but I'm just saying. She's a very smart player, can score, can distribute, can be an ultimate playmaker. And she's not known for her size. She has a good leg. And so on. The positives of her game far outweigh the negatives. She has been just about everyone's whipping girl, of all the Top 10 projected picks in the draft.
One thing SkyBlue needs IMO is a player that can provide some physicality in the midfield against teams that have a more physical style of play like WNY and Chicago. What would be their best choice for that?
Except that didn't I read that Bledsoe isn't in the draft? And, on checking the list, I'm right, she isn't. So that messes up their mock draft, unless you sub in another GK for her.
Well assuming they r both there the two players who help Chicago the most r Johnston and Kallman. Kallman fills the hole in the back and Johnston plays CAM. They fit the Red Stars physical style and compliment the speed they have added on the perimeter. I dont buy into the theory that they draft a personality scorer like Maya Hayes while they wait for Press and Tancredi to show. They have too many people coming back from injuries. BUT as they completely fooled me last year maybe they will again.
Maybe if we had each NWSL player "adopted" by a professional athlete in a more lucrative sport, we could get by these silly money issues and get on with building a world class soccer league.
I hear Jrue is bringing over the single guys on the team the next time FCKC crosses paths with the Pelicans.
