Top one would probably go to the Revolution, although he has not yet begun to fight. Bottom one is probably Going to California.
"Possum"?!? Pfff! He is enemy, then. This here is raccoon country. Raccoon don't want no stinkin' possum stealing his garbage.
Somebody needs to update the urban dictionary to include a Chicago Fire example of getting Jonesed: Jonesed Verb; A way to tell someone they have been "punked", "screwed", or "burned". It's a way to be compared to someone that has been the butt of a joke.
New England offered more money. Jones went there. We didn't really get screwed. This is not the NBA where people are deciding between 18 mil a year or 21 mil a year.
Not at all how it happened. Thats a bidding war which MLS prohibits. NE offering more was simply to make Jones happy and force the new rule of the Blind Draw. Fire's offer was already locked. Jones could have rejected another team probably by flat out rejecting MLS. He didn't because of money.
Technically speaking both final offers were exactly the same amount of money. The only screw thing would be that MLS allowed New England to increase the value of Jones from what the Fire had originally offered, but even then I don't think it is a screw up since we never had any rights to Jones, we were just the first ones to the ball. Is all part of the single entity, if a team comes to an agreement with a player, unless they have exclusive rights to that player, other teams could come in and take the player for them selves. We screwed ourselves if anything.
Kei Kamara is available Simon Borg @SimonBorg Free agent … RT @Boro: Middlesbrough have this evening parted company with Kei Kamara whose contract has been cancelled by mutual consent. Jëff Krause@DFBJeff LRT: Not gonna lie, I'd love to have Kei Kamara in Chicago. #cf97
Came here to post this exact thought but you beat me to it... could be a good fit IMO. AT LEAST on par with any other forward option we've got right now...
Since Middlesborough paid a transfer fee for him, I imagine that KC does not have rights to him under the byzantine MLS transfer rules. Didn't we get Rolfe back because he left on a free, but did not get Pappa back because we received a transfer fee? If KC does not have any rights, we might have to say "pretty please" to MLS and to Columbus, as I believe they are top on the allocation order. Also, they might actually want him, as he played there previously.
Not if we offer him Jones type money, who would be crazy enough to match that offer? But I would think MLS would reject that type of offer.
They also don't have a reliable forward. They've been making due with platooning all year. Kamara and Higuain on the same team would be worrisome.
However, Yallop refused to let the obvious disappointment of the club’s failure to land Jones dull his optimism about the future of the club and claimed their interest in bringing a top player “doesn’t stop now.” http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...s-chicago-fires-frank-yallop-not-giving-addin “We have some money to spend, and we’re going to try to do it right. Whether it’s right now, it’s a tough one, but again moving forward the club wants to compete and get going and add some real top players,” Yallop said as he addressed the media at Toyota Park for the first time since the protracted Jones transfer fiasco reached a fruitless conclusion. “I’m excited about the next little while that we can really look at some top-notch players to bring in and obviously help us not just for this season.” Looks like it is still "really hard" to sign a DP (at least for the Fire)
