Germany and USA have already tied their game with each other so this one is for pride.

    ......most likely Ghanaian pride.

My lineup to try and save some face:

    -------------------Eduardo------------
    Perreira-------Neto----Pepe-----Veloso
    -------------------William--------------
    -----------Moutinho----Rafa-----------
    Vieirinha----------Varela-----------Ronaldo

    Can't believe it.
    Really.
One soft pk turns into this disaster.

Get ready for all the "we did everything we could to win this match" garbage from both teams.

But we have ourselves to blame, didn't come to Brazil to compete. Just came to test out the barbers.

Makes you think. In 2010 Queiroz basically sucked the life out of the team and made us play like cowards vs a beatable Spain.
We get Bento who puts life into the team and makes us go for it against all teams. He brings in a bunch of youth gets rid of some old guys who still had something to give, we do well at the Euro and then he slowly starts doing the exact same crap Queiroz did. Not as bad but the trend is the same: use the same midfield even though for all the time they play together never look like a cohessive unit, relies on the same old guys up front and starts getting the team to play more defence. Go into the World Cup and mentally the players are not ready and he totally makes a mess of the lineups.
Why he would select injured players to the NT is baffling, why he would play them in crucial games is beyond logic.

We are 1-0 and instead of waiting for the US to pressure we gladly hoof the ball down the field so we can play defence. It was the Spain 2010 game all over again, except vs a bunch of talentless hacks.

It's hilarious and mad to say it but i think Portugal could still get through, albeit, totally and completely by the skin of their teeth. Pressure's off now and the world thinks their out as they themselves think too. They'll go out and wallop ghana and expose that weak, weak defence while flip the coin and germany will batter the USA. USA are nothing if not arrogant and think their through, rightly so i suppose but that could be their undoing also. The way this world cup has behaved so far, i can honestly say i wouldn't be one bit surprised if the world is laughing at how portugal has scraped through along with germany. I know everyone is talking a germ/USA draw but football rarely works out as predicted. Ronaldo could get inspired, have the game of his life and grab himself a few.. who knows? it aint over till it's over

Portugal are going to beat Ghana. Portugal play their best when their backs are against the wall. To say that Germany will sit back and play for a tie is pretty silly. They had a bad game against Ghana and they want to get things right before the knock out phase. One thing for sure Portugal is going all out. They have life and Ronaldo have confidence.

With all the injuries and Ronaldo playing at 40%, Portugal could have put their heads down and accepted the 2-1 defeat. They never gave up and that goal with 2 seconds left gave them a life line. I thought USA were going to win going into the game because of all the injuries. Now I'm confident. Just win!

The goal here should be 3-0 and hope Germany can deliver 2-0. At the very least play for pride and don't go out of the tournament without a win. I like GoodDead's lineup but given Ronaldo's lack of backtracking (understandable) maybe we should start him striker. Also I think its a tossup between Veloso and Almeida...not too impressed with either.

Playing more loosely given the circumstances and with the correct lineup, I believe Portugal can potentially get a 2-0, 3-0 which may put us through in the event germany wins 2-0 etc.

    however its a big IF...

more likely is Bento does not listen to the obious, sits William on the bench against Ghana of all teams, Ghana overruns us in middle, tosses Meireles , Veloso, and Moutinho around like little bitches, Bruno Alves falls on the ground injured playing strikers onside instead of Neto playing, etc

If Bento sticks to the current trend, what will happen is Ghana will overrun us and win 3-1. They will dance around the field at every goal and mock our team and our nation will be disgraced even more. after the game they will probably have their way with our players wives and girlfriends too too boot, Irina Shayk getting full out BBCed from every angle while Ronaldo pouts again at how the rest of his team is beneath him. The Douchebag Porkchops (not true Portuguese) in Toronto will get their Brazil flags out.

Bento will leave in disgrace, pocketing money since he forced the FPF to sign an extension with him. In comes Jesualdo Ferreira or Fernando Santos, etc we get lucky in Euro in a couple years by beating teams like Czech, Norway, Ireland, then the routine win over the Netherlands, then they will lose to Germany, France, or Spain who will go on to win the Euro 2016. 2 years later they will epically fail again at the world cup in Russia. Rinse and Repeat until Mourinho or Villas Boas decide to coach us after they are done with club soccer and coaching the English National Team.

Ronaldo will retire with no International title. Messi will go down as the greatest of this Gen as it already looks obvious with Argentina's easy route to the final he will be the star of this tournament.

in the end... a full out disaster.

Playing William was definitely the only positive we saw last game, so that should continue

As much as I love Bruno, he's tired and needs to sit this one out. I can see gyan ripping him up easy. Neto in please with Pepe

As much as Ronaldo can score, he doesn't seem to produce when he's our target man. Leave him on the wing and let him play the way he did when he was coming up in the NT. Every team we face focuses on him because WE focus on him so much. Eder has shit ball control and a shit first touch, use his height and his strength to get him to win headers in the box, from proper crosses sent in by ronaldo.

We need to play like were playing with deco and rui Costa but without them. At this point, throw the kids on that haven't proven anything and see if they can play the way we used to before Ronaldo became the second coming of christ for Portugal. Anything other than this Bruno alves starting the attack bullshit and Ronaldo ruling Portugal bullshit.

As someone pointed out, it sounds insane to sit here and believe in the possibility of the National team make it through the group.

According to stats, we have a 5% chance, while the USA sits at 75% .

The odds makers for the teams to progress through this group pretty much say how they feel this will turn out, with the USA sitting above -500 to advance.

However, Portugal did not give up, faced with the injuries in the line up, a suspension to one of the most key players in the National team set up (Pepe.. who btw is on the verge of retard).. and to still be officially alive... albeit by the skin of their teeth.. it gives hope.

I personally do not feel it is impossible, to over turn a goal difference of 5 between the two games.

I sincerely hope Paulo Bento acknowledges his mistakes over the past 2 games in the starting 11, corrects them, and let the soccer Gods work their magic this Thursday..

I will be watching, and believing.. it isnt over untill its over.. as hard as it may be to think otherwise given the way they have played these last 2 games.

Just believe... we know the boys wearing Portugals jersey will be giving it their all.. and will not go down without a fight..

Pepe will play on Thursday but keep in mind that he has played only ONE competitive game in 2 months and you saw the results of that game last week.

In fact, before the red card, we had already conceeded 2 goals and Pepe had not looked good during his short stay on the pitch:
    (1) A horrendous back pass to Patricio who proceeded to sh7t his pants and gift Khedira an open goal and
    (2) Dawdling on the ball leading to a near Muller steal leading to the scuffle that led to the red card.

Make no mistake about it - Pepe is not 100% and Ghana will try to exploit that with speed and pressure - i.e. another bad omen for Thursday.

Beat Ghana and let the chips fall where they may. I don't think Germany and USA tie, I think Germany will win.

USA seem way too confident about qualifying. 75% chance of qualifying does not take into account the horrendous shape we are in for Thursday and the, frankly, strong probability of us conceeding 3-4 goals to Ghana. On Thursday, we will field he most unfit lineup we have had in 10-20 years. Certainly the worst in a major tournament. The morale will also at an all time low - I mean, just listen to what was essentially the concession speech from our captain...

Will Ronaldo even start?? I'm not so sure. Real Madrid handlers must have been furious about that last minute goal yesterday. There will be significant pressure for him not to start on Thursday... Not conspiracy theory - just reality.

Portugal needs to dominate against Ghana like they did in recent friendlies vs Cameroon and vs Ireland.

But Ghana is gonna be on full attack mode too because they seem to have more desire to win than us.

This will be like the North Korea game we had to win and won 7-0 I had a vision and USA will lose 3-0 to the Germans with Muller winning a pk just like they did against Portugal and Ghana

Ronaldo will play like the devil

Vamos Caralho Portugal ainda esta nesta grande puta
