FC Tucson sent out an email today to all of its season ticket holders on how you can pick up your season tickets. But in the email, they address the US Open Cup, and why the match is not free for season ticket holders.

It took me a while of staring at the printout, but it looks l ike the result of the Preliminary round game affects the matchup of both games #34 and #35.

And: the Madison 56ers [at] Des Moines Menace match in the first-round-proper has been moved to Wednesday.

    Doesn't appear as though, no.

And given the clubs involved, that should not be a surprise.

Josh at thecup.us does all the work so you don't have to. If a game is online, he'll have it.

I highly doubt this game is going to be free. I went last year when Portland played Brooklyn in the first round at home and I think it was $10, might have been $8, I cant remember, but it definitely wasn't free and I don't anticipate it being free this time.

I couldn't find a price so I figured for two amateur teams; it’s going to be free.
But still, that's $10 cheaper than what FC Tucson is charging.

I really don't mind paying to watch lower division games. Support of the lower division game has to start with financial commitment. $8 adults / $5 kids is totally appropriate. I also agree that $18 and change is ridiculous. In reading the copy on the website it seems like Portland already booked their date with Rochester (who either of these teams could definitely beat.) but I would slow down if I were them. MPS is SOLID. I predict a 2-1 win for MPS.

Do you think amateur teams aren't operated like businesses? GPS Portland Phoenix is in the PDL. They're a business. Not a big business, but still a business.

You know, you can keep telling us that and have it do no good, or you can tell FC Tucson that.

We have. They told us "IF PHX supporters are purchasing tickets, then the price is reasonable."

Not that many AZ BS users (if that's what you mean).
During the last Cactus Pricks BBQ, the main topic/issue for the 20+ that attended was ticket prices for all FC Tucson events (Desert Friendlies, DDC, PDL- Season, and US Open Cup). We also learned that board members (FC Tucson and Pima County) were telling the FC Tucson owners that they thought the ticket prices for the Desert Friendlies was "To high at $10." The owners didn't listen to the advice, and drew under 100 a game.

Also, here's a new email from FC Tucson.

Nevermind the fact that they are supporters of a pro team and are thus used to paying higher ticket prices.

FC Tucson appears oblivious to reality.

Nice to see Croatian team RWB Adria qualified again :) . Shame it's an open draw so they play at USL Pro team where they have no chance to progress.

Potential 3rd round matchups were announced last night: http://thecup.us/2013-us-open-cup-third-round-pairings-set-for-mls-entry/

Of course lots of variables depending on the results from Round 2, but interesting potential matchups for sure! Close to home for me is the potential rematch of RailHawks vs LA Galaxy from last year's upset in the US Open!
