If this Masar signing is indeed true, then this is a great opportunity for Chicago to trade their #25 pick (Jen Hoy) to Seattle for the rights to Seattle's #1 draft pick in 2014. Seattle desperately needs forwards now for "this year", and they would probably make that trade right now. It would be smart for Chicago to do this, because they would then have two first round picks in the "LOADED" 2014 rookie draft. Chicago could then maybe get (let's say) DiBernardo and Maya Hayes, in the same draft (in the first round). Who knows, if they have a Top 2 overall pick (with one of their two first round picks), then Chicago could get either Crystal Dunn or Kealia Ohai, and then get DiBernardo with their other first round pick afterwards. Chicago needs to think of playing "chess", while Seattle is thinking of "checkers" right now. Chicago can still get local player (undrafted rookie free agent Jessica Price) in discovery, as depth at forward. And then get two stud pieces from a wonderful draft in 2014, retain their current best players from 2013, and go in to the 2014 season as a more serious championship contender in the league. Imagine Chicago's team in 2014 .... F - Masar, K Ohai, Dominguez, J. Price MF - Bywaters, Garza, DiBernardo, Osborne, Winters, Boxx, B. Klein D - LePeilbet (healthy in 2014), Dalmy, Moscato, Quon, Weber, Fowlkes, Krzysik GK - Erin McLeod, Aubrey Bledsoe (rookie, from Wake Forest, her home is in the Midwest) That's a championship caliber roster. Stars and role players, speed, speed, and more speed, plus physicality. Who's gonna keep up with them, with Masar, Ohai, Price, Bywaters, Quon, etc. running all over the field with speed, and leading to an attack (after attack, after more attack) wearing out the opposing defense. I'm always thinking outside the box, and I would do this if I were Chicago. Jen Hoy (and a 3rd round pick in 2014), to Seattle for Seattle's 1st round pick in 2014.
Ella Masar returning to the Red Stars? Wow that's a shocker. That would probably be the most predictable thing in this whole FA scenerio.
Why did CRS need a new shield? Doesn't make that much sense to me to reinvent the wheel. The font is ugly as is that ball.
They didn't need a new shield, this is just another freelance logo from tumblr (see my reply to you int he WNY thread).
True, the "old" shield looked better. So any guesses on the last 3 FA (I think the first 2 we all know). Leslie Osborne (USA) Ella Masar (USA)
I'm really hoping Chalupny returns to Chicago. (I guess I would also like seeing her with the Spirit, too.) Just as long as she doesn't go to FCK City. I would also like to see Chicago re-sign Cinalli and Weber*. And maybe Loyden. And now I'm well over my "other two FAs". X-D *I don't remember her new married name....
I think Cinalli and Weber may go to the allocation FA list. I also think Chalupny will be one of the other 3. MRAD12 says good things about Brittany Bock and we need a CB so maybe her. The last one ?????
No, it was from Tumblr. I thought everyone had already seen that post in the other thread. It was sarcasm, as they are like the last team in this league you'd expect would change their logo.
I'm going to assume Fowlkes. I only expected her to choose between KC and Chicago and since KC already has 4 FA, it's gotta be Chicago. Oh and she definitely is playing in the league according to her Twitter.
Could very well be Fowlkes. I've been saying on here allalong, the candidates for Chicago are: F - Amanda Cinalli, Kerri Hanks, Michele Weissenhofer, Jessica Price MF - Brittany Klein, Lori Chalupny, Julianne Sitch D - Marian Dalmy, Elise Weber, Lauren Fowlkes, Brittany Bock, Nikki Krzysik, Natalie Spilger GK - Ali Lipsher But will they sign an international or two? And they need defenders. They only have Quon and Moscato now, due to LePeilbet's injury. They really need at least 3 or 4 of those 6 defenders I mentioned above.
I doubt teams will carry 3 GKs. (then again are there many National team games during the season?) So maybe get a trialist in case the draft pick does not pan out, but I doubt it will be one of the 5 FA's, maybe it will be a discovery player that they give a chance to compete for the #2 GK job.
If the Red Stars carry a 3rd goalkeeper it won't be Ali Lipsher. It would be probably be Jamie Forbes, last year's starting keeper from the WPSL and local player who played a UW-Milwaukee.
U.S. Soccer quote: "The selection order for the (supplemental) draft was determined by several factors, including the order in which the college draft was conducted and how teams have been impacted by the projected absences of previously allocated national team players for all or part of the inaugural season." ---------------------------------------------------------- Then how does Portland get the last pick here? They had the last pick in the college draft "and" they have been affected almost as much as anyone to players leaving to play in other countries for much (or all) of the season (Heath included).
If it is the league is pretty doomed. If USSoccer organizing both the League and the US WNT schedule still fail to avoid concflict (except on very rare ocassions) this leagues chance of survival is pretty slim.
So the Red Stars officially announced they signed Osborne. And then in the press release go on to say they will be announcing the other 5 players over the course of the week.
Other 4 I assume. I think is ok, give each signing a day until next Friday. Masar will be Monday #3 Tuesday #4 Wednesday #5 Thursday Friday the other draft.
Ok adding Masar since we all know she will be with the CRS what would your line up be right now? 4-3-3 Dominguez---------Winters---------Masar----------- -----Garza----------Boxx-----------------Bywaters---- -Quon-----Moscato-------Osborne -----Hoy--- ---------------Erin McLeod-------------------- Dang we do need some Fullbacks.
