What are the tie-breakers for this tournament? Still goal difference and then goals scored? Could be a three-way tie after Saturday if Houston and Vancouver both win.
N Not exactly sure. but Houston after last night, are now in the driver seat for Saturday playing against the Battery Tough loss for the Battery last night. giving up a game winning goal in extra time is never easy. But overall I htink the squad is coming together nicely. Auggie played some players in different positions Griffth at left back and Azira at right back . They created some decent chances and defense did well for the most part. Here is a couple recaps from last nights 2-1 loss http://www.postandcourier.com/artic...1032/chicago-fire-edge-charleston-battery-2-1 http://www.chicago-fire.com/news/2013/02/fire-defeat-charleston-battery-2-1-mls-preseason-clash video of the goals here http://www.live5news.com/story/2129...=default&clipId=8443269#.USZLFQGjn3U.facebook
Apparently it is goal difference first and then total goals which is what I thought. Which means that Chicago wins the title with a win or draw against Vancouver. If Vancouver and Houston win then it comes down to goal difference and possibly goals scored.
Battery getting ready for Houston tomorrow. I will be interesting to see how Dom approaches this match as they could take the cup with a win. and seeing how we are playing their reserve team twice during the season. Battery's pre match here: http://charlestonbattery.com/news/battery-face-off-against-the-houston/ Unfortunately, it looks like rain through Sunday morning here so fingers crossed the field can take it and the coaches want to play. That said it isn't supposed to be too cold (upper 50s). We are still planning on Tailgating before the match on Saturday(we have a couple canopies) grab some ponchos or raingear, dress warm and I hope to see you there!
This is the last scheduled preseason game for the Dynamo before the season opener next Saturday against DC and then Santos on Tuesday, March 5. I expect our starters to play quite a bit to get ready for that.
Feature article on Vancouvers coach Rennie http://www.postandcourier.com/artic...dream-comes-true-with-mls-vancouver-whitecaps weather is looking grim out there. steady hard rain since about 6 the AM on top of the rain from yesterday. It is supposed to let up around noon but then calling for rain around game time again. Last year the decission to not play was game time so I imagine this year will be the same. Great Feature from the Whitecaps on our Stadium and the Three Lions Pub
Great win by the Battery last night. Our new Cuban Odisnel Cooper was on fire. great reaction saves that kept the Battery in the game. After the game I learned he hadn't been training at 100% he had a slight injury druing the preseason camp and hadnt kicked a ball until the match on Saturday. Good job by the Grounds Crew considering we have gotten close to 51/2 inches of rain in 48 hours. And a fabulous job by the front office to pull off a great tourneyment once again despite all mother nature threw at them. the Crowds that did make it out certainly witnessed some great matches.
