The regulations for the 2nd season of ALP are finalized and only need final approval of the AFF. The regional qualifiers for the league will start in 35 days. This time two teams from Afghan refugees in Pakistan and Iran will also feature in the qualifiers.

So will there be ten teams this season? Also will the apl be round robin this season?

If they qualify, will they be allowed to play in the APL?

this is actually a good move by the AFF in inviting 'other' players to the tournement to showcase their talents, this can only be better for the National team in general, hopefully a few new gems pop up.

Not actually, the number of teams remain at 8. The two teams from Iran and Pakistan will participate in the qualifiers in Herat and Nangarhar respectively. From each qualifier, 18 players will be selected, so some Iran or Pakistan based players might feature in Toofan Harirood or Spinghar Bazan.
Unfortunately, the league will not be on a round robin format.

Very good move indeed. I am happy the Afghan FA is taking the right steps in how to go about their league. Round-robin would have been nice but I think the idea of bringing in some foreign muscle will compensate for now.

Will matches be available on youtube. That would really keep Afghan's abroad and just normal football fans like me updated on the quality of the league.

By the way, Darklink, I understand you are new here so you probably do not know this yet but shouldn't this thread be in the Afghanistan Football Thread.

Hopefully some other asian clubs will try to sign some players from the apl
Also hopefully that since its not going to be a round robin league it will atleast have the groups be round robin and two legged semi final and final matches, so the champion could have enough games to play in the presidents cup.

That explains the kick-ass videos. Seriously, the quality of the way the league is presented kills India by a mile.

Right. The quality of broadcasting is really high and they are improving a lot.

The qualifiers will begin on 10th of May from Kabul and then roles out to other 7 zones.

I can be the source ;). Sorry, it is not officially announced by the AFF, but it is mentioned here (in Farsi): http://footballnameh.blogspot.com/2013/05/8.html

The format is not that much different from last year. Only the semi-finals are on home and away basis.

The qualifiers begin today. They will not be broadcasted, but a brief of the matches will be on air on May 10. Shirpoor, Taq-i-Zafar, Bala Hesar and Shir Darwaza are four teams competing from today.
