The two clubs are coming into the 143rd Ruhr Derby after very different mid-week results in the Champions' League. Guests Borussia Dortmund came out of London with a huge 2-1 victory over Arsenal FC at Emirates Stadium. Hosts FC Scheisse 04 were slammed 3-0 in their own gymnasium by Chelsea FC.

In my opinion, thanks to coach Jürgen Klopp, outsmarting himself twice, FC Scheisse 04 swept the Derbies last season taking two 2-1 victories. The season before, Borussia Dortmund swept the Derbies on their way to their second consecutive Bundesliga title. In Derbies staged at Gelsenkirchen, FC Scheisse 04 leads the series with 18 victories in 41 meetings. Borussia Dortmund has 11 Derbies at Gelsenkirchen and there have been 12 draws between the two clubs at Gelsenkirchen. Ironically, in Derbies at Dortmund, in the same number of meetings, the numbers for the home and away victories are exactly the same. Of course, with BVB having the 18 victories at Dortmund. However, the teams have split the past four Derbies at Gelsenkirchen with two victories each.

I expect this Derby to another epic battle. I think BVB will prevail. It is our turn.
