Okazaki with the late equalizer as Mainz come back to salvage a draw against Gladbach. Headed goal after a set piece, typical scrappy Okazaki effort.
The commentator was saying that in an interview before the game, when asked about his goal drought, he said that the next goal was coming soon. And sure enough. He's a great player. Does more for the team than score goals too.
Tor!! Tooor! Shinji #Okazaki trifft zur Führung! #FCAM05 0:1 (32.)— 1. FSV Mainz 05 (@1FSVMainz05) March 14, 2015
If I had to chose how I would score a goal with only a GK standing in front of me I would get the ball in the air and then try a volley shot. That would be a perfect way to score. 100% confident and 100% skilled. A killer. With style. And that's what he did. A perfect goal. Pure genius. Cristiano Ronaldo wouldn't do that. But I bet Messi who's a real prodigy would try that. And I bet that this kind of goal is what they would like to score every time.
Nah, Messi would keep it simple. Only flamboyant showboats like Okazaki, Neymar and Ibrahimovic would try something like that.
Let's hope he will do something near it whit the JNT jersey as Neymar and Co. do in their national teams.
Eh, I don't picture Okazaki as flamboyant showboat at all. A poor first touch is no bad thing if you can still handle the (resulting more difficult) 2nd touch. Actually in front of the goal keeping the nature of the shot unclear until the last moment is of great advantage. For e.g. Thomas Müller the perceived sloppiness of his play is actually his big advantage, making him harder to read, even though his technique and placements are routinely called bad. So in my eyes Okazaki did great with that goal.
Okazaki turns 29 today, and Kicker claims that Gladbach wants him? http://www.spox.com/de/sport/fussba...i-kandidat-bei-borussia-moenchengladbach.html Not sure I'm too fond of him playing under Favre...
What's not to like? BMG will be in the Champions League and plays good football. If Favre really does want Okazaki it'd be a great step for his career.
Why I am I intrigued at the idea of Okazaki at Chelsea, so absurd. But I'd love it. I think he can be that super sub scrapping a much needed goal in CL.
Okazaki to Chelsea article (btw, I was told Heidel didn't have a clue who Muto was back in Jan) http://www.allgemeine-zeitung.de/sp...i-haben-muto-als-ersatz-im-blick_15194366.htm and this is Heidel saying Okazaki will only be sold to clubs outside of Germany http://www.bild.de/sport/fussball/c...ld.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter
hey, at 29 I'd be happy for him to have his "last chance" to land in a big team. I'd also worry him being 3rd choice in Chelsea, but yeah, mixed feelings. I don't really believe it's true, though, but it's going to be hot summer as he will be sold for sure.
