The first round draw had been posted: http://www.ussoccer.com/News/Lamar-...gs-Announced-for-First-and-Second-Rounds.aspx http://thecup.us/2012-us-open-cup-first-round-matches-unveiled-for-may-15-second-round-pairings-set/ First round games are Tuesday May 15, three of them in the midwest: Second round matchups for May 22 have also been posted. The Crew (and all MLS teams) will enter just one week later, on May 29. So coming up later this month already! Looking at the second round matchups, there are 2 possibilities that I really hope the Crew get drawn with: Michigan, Dayton, and Pittsburgh are obviously the three closest teams to the Crew in this year's Open Cup. And assuming the Chicago Fire can't get drawn against the Chicago Fire PDL team, if the Fire PDL beats the Croatian Eagles, they'll probably be drawn against either Kansas City or us. Hopefully the Crew will be drawn into one of those two matchups. Far better than being drawn against one of the southeast teams. Or our old friends from Rochester.
Sorry for the multiple threads (and the bizarre capitalization in the thread title). Blame bigsoccer. I can't find the delete button for the other one.
First round results can be seen in full here: http://thecup.us/2012-lamar-hunt-us-open-cup-results/ Semi-local results of note: Chicago Fire PDL 1-0 Croatian Eagles Michigan Bucks 6-0 Jersey Shore Boca Second round games will be next Tuesday, May 22, including Dayton at Chicago PDL and Michigan at Pittsburgh. Full list of games at the link above. More importantly, the draw for the 3rd round has been announced: The Crew will have a home game on Tuesday May 29, hosting the winner of the Dayton/Chicago PDL game. Full 3rd round draw here: http://www.ussoccer.com/News/Lamar-...n-Cup-Pairings-for-Third-Round-Announced.aspx Dayton Dutch Lions (USL PRO)/Chicago Fire PDL (PDL) Winner at Columbus Crew (MLS): Columbus Crew Stadium; Columbus, Ohio; 7:30 p.m. ET
Hopefully it is Dayton so we get more than 50 people to show up! Not me however, I will be travelling. I will be in the general Philly area.... Brooklyn Italians (NPSL)/Rochester Rhinos (USL PRO) Winner at Philadelphia Union (MLS) Rochester/Philly would be a good game..
Hopefully the tickets are not too expensive. I hope there will be an SG announcement soon on ticket pricing considering it is just 3 days after the next home match
Actually, that couldn't be further from the truth. Sneak posting from work is not the ideal time to call the FO.
No doubt. We could be looking at two Fire games in the span of 4 days. Playing Dayton would be fine, but it would be fun to sweep the Fire.
One thing I found interesting while reading about the draw was that it is now a true draw. There is no bidding for the games anymore (that may not be true for the final, however--I can see where that might be bid out).
This is a great move. It definitely helps make it a fairer competition when you can't buy home-field advantage.
There will be bidding for the semifinals and the final, so if Seattle can make it past the round of 16 and the round of 8, they'll have a great chance again. And remember, even with a blind draw, they still have a good chance at hosting at least one of the sweet sixteen or quarterfinal games.
