Couldn't find a specific thread for reserve stuff, so I wanted to post this so we could bump it whenever there are reserve matches... like the upcoming one that is not attatched to a first team game: June 10 10:00am Columbus Crew New England Revolution Crew Stadium I have no idea why we are playing, at our place, 6 days prior to playing the first team match at their place, but as it stands, this is still on the books. Will be a nice break in the lack of home games...
Crew Reserves Goal Scorers: Renteria- 3 Finlay- 1 Grossman- 1 Perry- 1 Meram- 1 Schoenfeld- 1 Assists: Vukovic- 3 Tchani- 1 Renteria- 1
Crew Reserves Goals and Assists (as of 6/10): Renteria- 3 Finlay- 1 Grossman- 1 Perry- 1 Meram- 1 Schoenfeld- 1 Anor- 1 Assists: Vukovic- 3 Tchani- 1 Renteria- 1 Speas- 1
Did anyone see this game? I would appreciate some impressions, especially about the new guy from Costa Rica. It also looked from the website that the Crew played a pretty experienced group? Thanks.
He was on the far side of the field most of the time so it was hard to see him in detail. He had a few good moves and I think he got a shot off which was wide. I can not remember any bad passes or any bad give aways so that is good. Nothing great but nothing bad yet was my impression. Speas was the surprise of the day for me. He has a cannon for a leg. His cross to Anor was a screamer.
Revs used guys who sometimes make the bench, when healthy (Shuttleworth, Lozano, Barnes, Fagundez, White) and two guys who have had spot starts when guys are out injured (Brettschneider, Cardenas). Several are guys who are coming back from injury and don't yet have a role on the 2012 team (Nyassi, Rundstrom). I'm not that familiar with the Crew -- were the guys in the reserve game mostly bench guys, guys trying to play their way onto the bench, or what?
Crew have had lots of injuries this season so the guys we played would mostly be reserves if everyone were available. Our group had a fair amount of experience however due to the forced playing time.
#Crew96 Lineup: Lampson, Gehrig, Marshall, George, Anor, Grossman, Finlay, Duka, Meram, Vargas, Arrieta
Our savior has arrived! 34' Arrieta jukes into the box, goes to his left foot and puts one past Vuolo. 1-0 #Crew96
Arrieta to other forwards I am here you are on notice. Yes I know Rent scored a hat trick in reserve league play; still pretty good statement by Arrieta early.
Los Ticos Locos! 59' Meram gets into the box with the ball and finds an open Vargas, who tucks it in. 2-0 #Crew96 over #RBNY
Booooooooo! 67' Ballouchy free kick from the left wing eludes everyone in the box and goes into the net. 2-1 #Crew96. #RBNY p.s. I'm getting these updates from the NYRB twitter feed.
Beats me. The NY feed is only giving scoring updates. I really wish there was some way to watch or listen to reserve matches.
Reserves action has wrapped up at Montclair State University. Final score: #RBNY 1, #Crew96 3. The Crew Reserves move to 5-0-2 (w-d-l) with the victory over NYRB.
Still in first place! Crew Reserves Goals and Assists (as of 7/2) Goals: Renteria- 3 Meram- 2 Finlay- 1 Grossman- 1 Perry- 1 Schoenfeld- 1 Anor- 1 Arrieta- 1 Vargas- 1 Assists: Vukovic- 3 Speas- 2 Tchani- 1 Renteria- 1 Meram- 1 Anor- 1
Reserve Game Alert! Per the Crew's website, reserve match scheduled for July 22 10:15am Columbus Crew D.C. United Crew Obetz Training Facility this is the first one I have seen listed as being at Obetz in a while, hopefully we will get actual confirmation of this in an email from the Crew, or if anyone has heard otherwise, please mention it here.
I've been meaning to check the reserve schedule & would of likely missed this one. It is kind of surprising that this is happening w/ the Stoke game on the 24th.
