All good to great nominees but there's only two former players getting into the Hall and one of them is on the this list. Be sure to vote - it means more than election voting.
Why can't we recycle names of people who didn't make it in previous years? There were some worthy candidates who got beat out by more worthy candidates.
Personally, and I mean no disrespect to anyone, I think there should only be three names in this Hall of Tradition: Marco, Jaime and Ben. asitis
How happy we'd all be if Ben's coaching career ends up being viewed as anywhere near as good as his days on the pitch!
He would be a dark horse for sure, but I would like to see Namoff make the list someday. 195 matches; most of them starts.
Olsen should win this in a landslide. If the HoT were up to me, these would be the names in it for now: Marco - No explanation needed Jaime - No explanation needed Pope - 2x Best XI, 1997 Defender of the Year, MLS All-Time Best XI in 2005. Agoos - 2x Best XI, MLS All-Time Best XI in 2005. Benny - the Dale Hunter of DC United, Best XI in 2007. Arena - 1997 Coach of the Year, guided DC United to 2/3rds of its trophy case.
Club Hall of Fames tend to be more forgiving than a league or sport one. To me guys like Gomez, Pope or Emilio would be fine additions.
To me winning a league MVP for a year is a big statement as to your quality. DeRosario when he is done could be discussed as well.
Well, Pope is already in but I am all for Gomito. Ben gets my vote this go round. Longevity, Championships, All Star, Best 11. He has given his all as a player and is now doing it as Coach. Vamos Beninho!
