Game time is 8:30 EDT, shown on ESPN2. I usually plan to avoid the game, then realize I am a junkie and tune into the game after all.
... and on TeleFutura, TSN and RDS. And ESPN3. It's a trilingual, multi-platform media-marketing sports super-event. (With 10 subs permitted.) And should you find yourself outside of the US/Canada, you would be able to see the televised game on:
Can somebody please explain to me how Lee Young-pyo did not make the MLS allstar team?. He is by far the best RB in the league.
He's certainly having a good year. But probably no better than what Steven Beitashour is doing in 2012. (And frankly I'm glad the fans selected the 25 y.o. and not the 35 y.o. to face Chelsea in this ASG exhibition.) There's going to be a (fairly) long list of guys having a good season who didn't make it onto the All-Star roster. I believe the league will still honor 36 or so players (2 teams worth given the old Eastern Conf v Western Conf format) and give them All-Star recognition/bonuses of some sort.
No Lee Young-Pyo on the inactive roster either: 2012 MLS All-Star Inactive Roster Goalkeeper: Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake), Jon Busch (San Jose Earthquakes) Defenders: Jámison Olave (Real Salt Lake), Geoff Cameron (Houston Dynamo) Midfielders: Brad Davis (Houston Dynamo), Marco Pappa (Chicago Fire), Brek Shea (FC Dallas), Roger Espinoza (Sporting Kansas City), Marvin Chavéz (San Jose Earthquakes) Forwards: Fabián Espíndola (Real Salt Lake), Kenny Cooper (New York Red Bulls), Fredy Montero (Seattle Sounders FC), Kei Kamara (Sporting Kansas City)
Is this game in 3D ?... 3D stuff gets more ratings , because it's a novelty for lots of people and folks tune in just for the hell of it.
It may be a novelty, but not a lot of homes are able to receive and properly display 3D content. I would greatly question the "lots of people" tuning in "just for the hell of it" claim and the generic statement that "3D stuff gets more ratings."
Copied from a General thread. (Note these are just the probable/expected lineups, with no guarantee as to those are the XI to be selected by the coaches tonight.) And, fwiw, here's the league's match-tracker: http://www.mlssoccer.com/matchcenter/2012-07-25-mls-v-cfc/
First time in team history that a Rapid didn't make at least the inactive roster for the ASG. I'm struggling to figure out how Pickens didn't get in ahead of a couple of the keepers named.
Same with our Hebrew Hammer. Who picks the inactive roster, anyway? Same of these choices are bizarre, to say the least.
because his 1.43 GAA is 12th out of the 16 keepers who've played 1000 minutes? because his 5 shutouts is tied for 7th out of the 16 keepers who've played 1000 minutes? because his 33% win percentage is 11th out of the 16 keepers who've played 1000 minutes? now he has faced the most shots (108) and made the most saves (78) and has the 4th best save percentage (73%) out of the 16 keepers who've played 1000 minutes so maybe he should blame his crap defence that has put him under constant bombardment such that his GAA, Shutouts and W% suck.
OK keep your jersey on.. For the record 3D is available with all cable providers and all you need is a 3D ready TV which most people have them. If I was talking about 4k tv may be you might have had a point.
This. Very few goals given up this season have been due to poor play by Pickens. When you've made the most saves in the league and the team is still tied for 15th in goals allowed you know your defense is crap.
I don't know a single person with one (cue Idaho jokes NOW!). Several of the inactive picks are odd IMO. Olave hasn't had an all-star caliber year; Rimando is borderline IMO. Montero? Nope. Shea? Nope. And I get a kick out of that list of international broadcast outlets for the game. All those stations are affiliated with a country or two, except for the last one, which is apparently a gambling syndicate of some sort.
The players vote on who will be selected to the inactive roster. And yea, there are some weird choices, most notably Brek Shea (really?).
They just interviewed Olsen on Extratime, and he says Beckham is starting, not Zusi. Actually, this seems to be the lineup that he was talking about: http://www.mlssoccer.com/matchcenter/2012-07-25-mls-v-cfc/formation Except swap DeRo and Becks.
MLS (4-4-2): Neilsen, Beitashour, Collin, DeMerit, Morrow, De Rosario, Beckham, Osvlado, Donovan, Henry, Wondolowski Chelsea (4-3-3): Hilario, Ivanovic, Terry, Cahill, Cole, Ramires, Essien, Lampard, Benayoun, Lukaku, Marin Chelsea isn't f**king around with that lineup.
