This isn't quire right. There's been a new format announced for the tournament as a whole...there will be no preliminary round in 2012-13, and two of the dates listed will not be game dates (July 24-26 and Oct 2-4). http://www.concacaf.com/page/CL/NewsDetail/0,,12813~2575174,00.html
Anything on 2012 CFU Club Championship? What teams will take part? What format will be used? Will Jamaican teams start playing it, especially now when top 3 CFU teams qualify to CL group stage?
Yeah, saw that, but same was last year, with two best Jamaican league teams listed, and when tournament started, there was no Jamaican teams. I was thinking like if someone has some additional info beside this. Thanks for answering, though.
The referees must keep a careful eye on these guys: Vempers Sports Athletic Dramatic Club. You would think they'd be the best actors.
When CFU is involved we wont really now until a few weeks before the tournament, heck we don't even know if the Islanders will participate yet because of disputes over how teams qualify in PR.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_CFU_Club_Championship lists 23 clubs and says the First Round First Legs are this week, March 9-11. It says there will be two rounds that have two legs and the Final Round.
Well they have 1 source and that website is down. http://www.caribbeanfootballunion.org/home/2010pdf/2012ccreg.pdf No info on Concacaf.com So I do not think the CFU Cup will start this week.
So fellow Mexicans which teams 2 other teams would you like to see join Tigres and Santos for next years CCL?
How did Bayamon qualify to the 2012 CFU club championship? All wkipedia says is that they played in their league.
How? Pretty simple actually, no team other than them and the Islanders have any money. So they got in cause none of the so called "professional" league teams can afford it.
What about the River Plate Puerto Rico team did they disband? Seems a shame they did away with the Puerto Rico championship I thought it was a good idea to have the other teams play the Islanders.
Now Wikipedia says they qualified by winning their country's 2nd division. WTF. What about the 1st division champ, who are FC Ponce? The 1st division champ was poorer than the 2nd division champ? And if the 1st Div champ is too poor to play CFU, shouldn't the berth go to the runner-up instead of all the way down to the 2nd division? But the Ponce Wiki entry says they are indeed qualified to CFU: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FC_Leones What a mess.
Bayamon FC story is pretty interesting. They have always been one of the top teams after the Islanders but they had a falling out with the old president of the federation which ment they got black listed from joining D1. But now that there's a new President and D1 will be run by the Federation they are allowed back in to it. On River Plate they went broke last season because they weren't able to acquire support from any municipality. Also Sevilla FC is now Blazers and is no longer sponsored by Sevilla of Spain. None of the D1 teams have the money to play in international tournaments other than Bayamon FC. So all of them refused probably. That's is why the Islanders don't care to even play D1 Puerto Rican soccer, because they know nobody else has the money so they will end up in the CFU by default.
The CFU article is updated...apparently the first set of games took place over the last few days - George Town SC, from the Caymans, won their group and will be the third team (of 4) in a group with Caledonia AIA and the Puerto Rico Islanders.
Aggregate point totals from 2011-12 season: Morelia - 52 Monterrey - 49 Cruz Azul - 47 Pachuca - 47 Chivas - 45 Jaguares - 43 I'm assuming that's how they would allocate the other berths.
I wish they'd make an official announcement as to what the contingency plan would be. Some Central American leagues add in points earned during the playoffs as well. Mexico hasn't announced if they'd add playoff points or what.
