Hola I.Tris, River. How are you guys doing? Everybody doing good? New season ey. Nice. Right lets get it going with some ridiculous predictions. 1.Which pitcher not called CC will win the most games for us this year? (Hugues) 2. Will AJ win 12 games? Over under on that? (i say under) 3. Will Posada catch more games for us than Montero? (probably) 4. Will A.Rod have a monster year? -310ish Avg, >130RBIs and >35HRs? (Hell yes, watch out for A.Rod) 5. Will Joba have a phenomenal year? (yes) 6. How awesome is Jete's new Darth vader enterance music? (way awesome)
1.Which pitcher not called CC will win the most games for us this year? Phil Hughes 2. Will AJ win 12 games? Over under on that? 12+ 3. Will Posada catch more games for us than Montero? No (Well, this question is difficult because Montero is in the minors for now. But I get the impression the Yanks wouldn't put Posada behind the plate this year if they had a gun to their head. They'd call anybody up from the minors to fill in instead of using Jorge. 4. Will A.Rod have a monster year? -310ish Avg, >130RBIs and >35HRs? Yes Alex had a monster spring. In 49 at-bats, he hit .388, slugged .898(!), with 6 home runs and 15 RBIs. 5. Will Joba have a phenomenal year? No Not phenomenal, but good. I firmly believe this guy is going to get traded by the deadline this season if he produces decently. I see the Yanks moving him out to maximize what they can get in return. I don't think Cashman or the Steinbrenners view Joba as a rock star anymore. 6. How awesome is Jete's new Darth vader enterance music? Not very Anytime I hear that Star Wars stuff blaring out of the soundsystem, I cringe. I can't help but look at it as somewhat silly, but I'm kind of formal concerning things like that.
Tex is, um, hitting the ball. I'd like to say I was good with AJ's outing today, but when the Tigers got to him, man they made quick work of him. He'll still get the W, though.
Yanks won the home run derby yesterday but lost the game. Posada hit 2 out, Tex his third in 3 games (7 RBIs total so far) and Cano drilled one. Hughes and Colon both got roughed up. Russell Martin isn't fooling around. He's 5-for-11 (.455) with a double, home run and 3 RBIs. vs. Minnesota Twins (1-2) at Yankee Stadium Mon.- Ivan Nova vs. Scott Baker; 7:05 on YES Tues.- C.C. Sabathia (0-0, 3.00) vs. Brian Duensing; 7:05 on YES Wed.- Freddy Garcia vs. Carl Pavano (0-1, 15.75); 7:05 on YES Thurs.- A.J. Burnett (1-0, 5.40) vs. Francisco Liriano (0-1, 8.31); 1:05 on YES vs. Boston Red Sox (0-3) at Fenway Park Fri.- Phil Hughes (0-1, 11.25) vs. John Lackey (0-1, 22.09); 2:05 on YES Sat.- 1:10 on FOX Sun.- 8:05 on ESPN A.L. East Baltimore: 3-0 1.000 New York: 2-1 .667 (1) Toronto: 2-1 .667 (1) Boston: 0-3 .000 (3) Tampa Bay: 0-3 .000 (3)
Alright I just donated my annual $120.00 to MLB TV. Time to get serious. I threw in an extra $10 to get MILB TV as well. All triple A games are televised live. Not sure how many of those I'll watch but it might be interesting.
It's a pretty cool service. The video quality is HD and I get the Yankees broadcast team for each game (had to pay extra for that). This will be the third year I've bought it. It comes out to less than a dollar a game, so it's good money spent. It's cheaper than the Extra Innings TV package, and since it's streamed, I get to watch the weekday games at work. The only thing I don't like about it is you have to buy the Ipad app separate to watch games on the ipad (another $15). It's also a separate app at another $15 if I want to watch on my phone. Back to the Yankees themselves, I thought Nova looked good yesterday. And so far so good with Joba. I had serious doubts about him before the season but he's looked great in all his appearances. I think Gardner is pressing. I'd like to see him keep that leadoff spot against right handed pitching. I hope he finds his rhythm soon.
$15 app for the IPad!!! Sweet sassy mollassy!!! Tex having the start he's had is worrying. I mean you know what you're gonna get with him, a shitty April but then its solid hitting throughout. Now we're in unchartered waters.
Don't worry about that -- worry about this: Gardner and Jeter are a combined 4-for-29 (.138) with 6 Ks. The pen is really cooking with the Joba/Soriano/Mo trio being totally lights out. Russell Martin has 2 stolen bases already!
Second guess time... Sabathia came out after 7 innings and 104 pitches with a 4-0 lead last night. Then, Rafael Soriano was brought in... The Yanks went down 5-4 in 10 with Boone Logan taking the loss. What I don't like is Girardi's after-game comment that "Soriano is our 8th-inning guy" -- and then saying he fully intended to bring Robertson in for the 9th all along. Well, isn't Mariano the 9th inning guy? There's an inconsistancy in logic here. If you don't intend on using Mo to wrap the game up, then move Soriano to the 9th (his natural position as a closer) and have Robertson or somebody else nail down the 8th. I don't mind the defeat so much as I mind stupid statements from Girardi about why he did something. Teixeira's 4th homer of the season and the first from Andruw Jones go wasted. A.L. East Baltimore: 4-0 1.000 Toronto: 3-1 .750 (1) New York: 3-2 .600 (1.5) Boston: 0-4 .000 (4) Tampa Bay: 0-4 .000 (4)
You know Girardi has been doing that a lot this Spring. Says one thing and then contradicts that very thing in the next sentence. Dumbass. Watched the meltdown against the Twins. Freakin painful to watch Soriano do that. I was hoping for the Joba - So' - Mo' relay team to close down shop once again. Sigh. Jete and Gardy off to slow starts. Pick it up boys. While Tex keeps rolling on. I am scared.
Rained out last night. No make-up date announced. Freddy Garcia's first start for the Yanks will now most likely be next week on Friday against the Rangers at the Stadium. A.J. goes this afternoon. Red Sox continue to lose. Pitching form for the upcoming series is set... vs. Minnesota Twins (2-3) at Yankee Stadium Thurs.- A.J. Burnett (1-0, 5.40) vs. Francisco Liriano (0-1, 8.31); 1:05 on YES vs. Boston Red Sox (0-5) at Fenway Park Fri.- Phil Hughes (0-1, 11.25) vs. John Lackey (0-1, 22.09); 2:05 on YES Sat.- Ivan Nova (1-0, 4.50) vs. Clay Buchholz (0-1, 5.68); 1:10 on FOX Sun.- C.C. Sabathia (0-0, 1.38) vs. Josh Beckett (0-1, 5.40); 8:05 on ESPN A.L. East Baltimore: 4-1 .800 Toronto: 4-1 .800 New York: 3-2 .600 (1) Boston: 0-5 .000 (4) Tampa Bay: 0-5 .000 (4)
Yanks win 4-3. Burnett goes 6, striking out 5, allowing 5 hits and 2 runs. Joba, Sori & Mo close it out. Yanks only got 5 hits themselves -- 2 from Jeter and a run scoring double by Andruw Jones. Red Sox lost again this afternoon. They go into their home opener tomorrow against the Yanks at 0-6.

What the hell is going on with Phil Hughes? The last goddamn thing we need is this clown tanking on us now. They say his "arm strength" isn't there. What the hell does that mean? Don't we live in a day and age when athletes basically train year round? And what is spring training for if not to build up a pitcher's arm? He should have come to camp ready to go. Get with the program Phil. We got a lot of kids down on the farm looking for your job. Bombers Being Patient with Phil - N.Y. Post Boone Logan better get his act together, too. vs. Boston Red Sox (1-6) at Fenway Park Sat.- Ivan Nova (1-0, 4.50) vs. Clay Buchholz (0-1, 5.68); 1:10 on FOX Sun.- C.C. Sabathia (0-0, 1.38) vs. Josh Beckett (0-1, 5.40); 8:05 on ESPN Mon.- off A.L. East Baltimore: 5-1 .833 Toronto: 4-2 .667 (1) New York: 4-3 .571 (1.5) Boston: 1-6 .143 (4.5) Tampa Bay: 1-6 .143 (4.5)
The Red Scum couldn't buy a win and along came Mr. Hughes. What a disaster. They said in Spring that his velocity is down by 2-4mph. First of all why is that and secondly why wasn't it fixed and thirdly, DAMN does it make him an absolutely useless piece of shit? He better get it together.
