Creighton website lists temp at 28 degrees. Very impressed by the Creighton turnout. And loved the "you ruin the sport for everyone" shouted at the play-acting USF player.
Not impressed with the Creighton fans. Although USF has deserved some calls and are very clumsy and physical, the fans also are being wrong on some of the calls they feel should go their way. Overall, Creighton playing a much better game and just needs to maintain their cool, which they could probably do better if the fans don't get them all riled up, IMO.
I have a friend at the game. He was kinda ticked at NCAA for waiting so long yesterday to postpone the game as they were already there. HaHa! I heard that quote too and loved it also. It was definitely a phony flop as he was worried he was going to get a YC. However, I thought the USF player was first to the ball on that one play and faulted the Creighton player more on that one.
This game is going to draw punches before the end, I think. First Creighton player goes down softly, no call (I thought appropriate), then USF forward goes down from Creighton CB play from behind trying to head the ball out.
That's a good point. Nothing about yesterday's weather was unexpected, yet it wasn't until the players were lined up for the opening kick that they suddenly announced they weren't going to play. No need for it to go on like that. I agree with a lot of your other comments, too. Way too chippy, way too much off the ball stuff, players on both sides need to focus more on playing their game.
Amen. I want to turn off the sound so I don't have to hear the pitiful whining and shrieking every time one of the Creighton players is touched.
Wow! Charlotte just tied it up towards the very end of regulation. I flipped over just in time to see it. 5:26 to go. I actually thought Charlotte looked very good when I watched the first half of the game before switching over to Creighton.
The UNCC freshman who scored, Giuseppe Gentile, is quite a talent. He always seems to come up big when they need him.
http://www.omaha.com/article/20111203/BLUEJAYS/111209894/-1#snow-pushes-cu-south-florida-to-sunday Fwiw, I found this article about the postponement. The reason for the late announcement is that they were concerned about severe cold today. While it is cold (28 degree), it's also clear they made the right call.
UCONN and Charlotte 1-1 going to PK's Thanks to the UCONN announcers they made the game very enjoyable to watch versus the 1" x 1" crappy video quality
Charlotte PK-made 1-0 UConn PK-missed 1-0 Charlotte PK-saved 1-0 UConn PK-missed 1-0 Charlotte PK-made 2-0 UConn PK-made 2-1 Charlotte PK-made 3-1 UConn PK-made 3-2 Charlotte PK-made 4-2 Charlotte advances to College Cup
Really couldn't tell from the video. The defender was on his back as he received the ball, turned and shot. But I always defer to the offside call by the ref as my kid was a center back for years .
I hate to watch USF blast the ball out of the back all the time, just awful defending and organization. I really hope they don't get into the College Cup because that's just awful soccer to watch.
Thanks, CC, going to have board my flight shortly if I want to have anywhere to put my bag. Guess I'll have to wait until I get to Chicago to see how this turns out.
Was doing family-related things this afternoon and just got home. Charlotte - wow! While it's no surprise a UConn team choked - again - in the playoffs, it still raises an eyebrow that Charlotte is going to the Final Four. But, when you look closely at their schedule, they have some solid wins so this isn't a huge shock, but it still raises an eyebrow.
