Why was that not called offside?? that was blatent. The announcers didn't even pick up on it, not that it really surprises me..

I just hope it's consistent, I cant believe this game.

Vancouver player is tackled head first by a Philly player: The game continues, no problem.

Philly player brushes against a Vancouver player, dives to the ground: Foul to the Whitecaps, Yellow card the the Whitecaps player.

Epic fail...

However, I'm impressed by how well we are playing short-ended. Hopefully they can get a lucky break and score before the game ends......

On top of this dismal refereeing and losing, Hassli is out next week. But at least we have Salgado in now though to offset the blow.

Wow what a absolutely horrendously ref'd game...if that's how the reffing for away games it's no wonder teams can't win on the road. Philly is a hack crew.

Yep for sure.

That win was given to them. Vancouver missing key players, being on the road, and being shagged by the ref did well considering.

From my rough count the ref(if you can call him that) called...........

Well, that sucked...

The Good:

- Good goaltending
- Good short-ended play for half an hour
- Good opportunities in the first half


The Bad:

- Not capitalizing on our chances in the first half
- Letting the Union play by their messed up rules


The Ugly:

- The city of Philadelphia, why do they need to have bully teams in every single sport?
- Philadelphia players.... ugh
- The Philadelphia ref...... gosh........ sooooooooo bad
- The Philadelphia crowd, the USA USA chant makes me mad as hell


What we need to do forget that game and start anew next week. The Whitecaps can still be happy with the way they played, and musn't be demoralized by this unlucky loss.

1) Someone tell the Houston guy in the vid that even AYSO kids know not to get caught flat footed.

2) Hide your kids, hide your wife, cause that douche Hassil is on the loose. He committed about 6 yellow card worthy fouls against Carlos Valdes in 60 minutes.

Honestly, there was bad officiating for both sides, the Union got several yellow cards that were probably not fully deserved. The goal wasn't offside, in the replay on MLS you can see Ruiz isn't the last player in front of the goal. Vancouver's defenders seemed to mill about after the ball deflects off one of them.

Le Toux goes flying towards the ball while Ruiz starts moving forward, Le Toux moves towards the goal while Cannon goes towards him, Le Toux simply flicks the ball to Ruiz who buries it.

No offside guys, sorry.

It was a defensive game, I gotta commend your team for playing well but sometimes it just doesn't go your way. No doubt you guys will be jockeying for a playoff spot.

However, Ruiz didn't affect play, the ball went to Le Toux who was in fact onside, Le Toux then did a pass across the goal to Ruiz who scored.

You can argue it all you'd like dude, but its still a goal. Its a tough loss I admit, but I think we can all argee that the ref wasn't exactly in top form.

And if it makes you feel any better, its not exactly the first time a ref could have cost a team a game and not the last.

There's nothing to argue, Philly was offside, it shouldn't have been a goal, ref missed it, and as a result it's a 1-0 win for the Union and 3 points.

Guys this is very simple. The ball was deflected by a Vancouver player therefore Ruiz is not offside. Please learn the rules before you go spouting off what the refs should be calling.

It wasn't offside...really though coming in here and posting right after a tough loss where our top player gets sent off for bullshit while your team is literally two foot chopping our guys legs/ankles and not getting booked is not only in bad form...it's being a total douche.

I gotta laugh at some of these guys talking down to us as if we've just started following the team and sport. Some of us have been following this team for decades and more. It's them that are new.

Let them come on here and be total douche's. If that's all their team can do, a one goal victory where they get a one man advantage for a good portion of the second half after being outclassed by a team that already is missing some top players, then I suspect there will be a lot of games this year where they'll be the ones facing comments from classless supporters.

Also let's face it, after a couple of losing season in Philadelphia, they'll be getting the impressive numbers that the Philadelphia Fury used to get in the old NASL. They'll have to enjoy their team while it lasts!

I have not seen the replay of the goal yet, so I won't comment on that.

I will say this. The refereeing was horrible. On both sides. Vancouver got the short end of the stick because they ended up down a man.

^I think this is probably the best summary. Hasli did some stupid sh-t out there, but Philly deserved a red for a 2 footed tackle earlier in the game

It's not just us Philly fans that are showing a lack of class. One VWFC fan a few pages back brought up $5 Guatemalan hookers. What's classy about that?

@Aragorn, it's true that you guys are much better off than we were in our first year. I'm not sure how many 2nd division players you brought up, but you at least had some guys to look at. Plus, you have the US' starting center-back and a contingent of pretty good Swiss players (Hassli included; I know he's French but w/e). Our roster was built on drafts and we made very few outside signings to reinforce it. I'm not arguing with you or anything, just expanding on the quote.
