Mexico over Canada? Even as a die hard I can't see that happening. 2000 was a once-in-20 years kind of event. Jamaica ain't beating CR, sorry. Group A : 1. MEXICO, 2. COSTA RICA, 3. El Salvador, 4. Cuba Group B : 1. HONDURAS, 2. JAMAICA, 3. GUATEMALA, 4.Grenada Group C : 1. USA, 2. CANADA, 3.PANAMA, 4. Guadeloupe Finals... Mexico v. Honduras. Just a guess - not sure of the playoff pairings.
Not.Happening.Sorry. ps-note an earlier comment when I said "upsets happen." Sorry. But ain't happening based on last WCQ.
Okay last WCQ we finished in the group of death tied with Mexico with 10 points. The group consisted of Mexico, Honduras, Jamaica and Canada. The U.S. and CR would have find it hard to make it out of this group.
ja2ny - Why do Jamaican's always get so defensive about their team? Jamaica didn't qualify for the Hex, and yet your expectation is they can win the GC??? tied on points with Mexico in the semi's or not, they finished behind Honduras. Yes, Canada sucked in the semi's!
It's called an opinion people. I personally think that Jamaica and Canada are the dark horses of the tourney, and I'm cheering for La Selecta. Oh, and did you see how atrocious Costa Rica played against Nigeria's youth team?
The US will win it, only because I actually am thinking that Mexico will win it. Every time I think the US will win, Mexico does and vice versa. Of course now that I've written that the US will win, does that mean that Mexico will win it?
This makes no sense at all. He was saying that Jamaican "can" beat Costa Rica, an you rebuttal with Costa Rica can't beat Honduras or Mexico so why would Jamaica And of course we can beat Costa Rica, they're not a team we necessarily struggle with. Definitely a toss up match.
I think I may have to agree with this. Jamaica has players in good form while Costa Rica is not 100% healthy and are relatively young. Jamaica can win a tough match especially if it is in New Jersey. I can see a lot of Jamaicans from Queens go & cheer them on to victory. In a tournament like this little things like that can be the difference.
Foxsoccer calls their predictions, including CR defeating Jam, but also not surprised if Jam beat CR. *Canada to make the semi's http://msn.foxsports.com/foxsoccer/goldcup/story/usa,-mexico-tipped-for-gold-cup-final-showdown *it's worth noting that a good run in this competition bodes very well for FIFA rankings. A guy on the Voyaguers web site did the math and Canada winning all matches moves them up to top 20 in FIFA rankings. (I'd be thrilled to win 2 and draw 1, lose 2 as that'd be likely enough to get the SF).
