Excellent news. I like that Favre brought him on even when BMGB were 1-0 down in the 80th minute.

He was the only attacking option left on the bench. But he seems to have finally arrived.

From what i read in the Gladbach Forum ,the fans liked the 8 minutes from Otsu and want him to start or play much longer, sounds not bad.

More than in the league. Otsu subbed in in the 106th.

Unfortunately he didn't get more playing time since the Cup match. I hoped to see him at least a few minutes in Berlin (I was at stadium) last Saturday, but our manager decided to bring the defensive winger Zimmermann (who's a FB and had his debut) for Herrmann instead of Otsu.

After all, he made the bench again...

... and learned how to celebrate with 8,000-10,000 away fans. :)

Second league match btw coming on as a sub for 15 minutes against Augsburg, on Marco Reus' position.

Not on the bench tonight. I though he was closing in on the team, but I guess not.

Reus just scored after a terrible mistake made by Neuer.

Imagine Reus in an attacking midfield with Kagawa and Götze.

I personally cannot wait to see this. I've been hoping this would go through ever since word of Reus' transfer started last year.

Otsu wasn't even on the bench against Wolfsburg.

It's a shame, he's seemed to have fallen out of the matchday squad the last couple games. When he did make it to the bench, he didn't really do much exciting with his appearances off the bench, didn't really grab the opportunity.

There's word that he will be used for a Cup game possibly.

Favre is the most reasonable of the european coaches for releasing players (of Japanese players anyway). He let him play the last two games, unlike Arsenal/Bayern/Stuttgart etc etc.

    Not in the squad.

Honestly, as long as Reus, Herrmann, Arango, de Camargo, Hanke, Leckie don't get injured we won't see him even sitting on the bench.

This team is a machine at the moment so we can't really expect any changes. But of course we want to see him play.

More hopeful than Usami's situation, anyway Otsu could find more space next year: Reus will be at BVB and not everyone is expected to stay..

I feel he'd be good if loaned to another team. Though from the appearances with the U23's you could see that he has improved in his time there.

Not sure honestly, he did what he was already capable of in Japan.
But I think patience shall be rewarded one day, we shouldn't expect anything from the Sakai, Otsu and Usami type of guys because they're young. They'll progressively get brought into the first team ...

    ... or not

He's on the bench. Explained by the fact Marco Reus is injured.

Tbh it actually makes it quite good that they let him go for the U22's midweek.
