[인터뷰] 박종우 "월드컵 본선진출 힘보태고 유럽갈래요" －2012년을 돌이켜본다면. ▶정신적ㆍ육체적으로 성숙해지는 시기였다. 올림픽에서 메달 색깔이나 획득 여부에 관계없이 세계 수준 선수들과 겨뤄보면서 축구 인생에 새로운 전환점을 맞았다. －올림픽에서 배운 게 있다면. ▶지금까지는 공을 잘 차고 이기면 좋았다. 하지만 외국 선수들과 겨루면서 '나만의 무기'가 없다는 생각이 들었다. 시키는 대로만 축구를 했다면 이제는 나만이 할 수 있는 플레이를 하고 이를 고민해야 한다는 것을 알게 된 셈이다. －가장 기억에 남는 순간은. ▶ 많은 분이 일본과의 동메달결정전일 것이라고 생각하시지만 오히려 영국과의 8강전이다. 7만 관중이 가득 들어찬 경기장에 들어서는 순간의 짜릿함은 말로 표현할 수 없다. 관중 대부분이 영국 팬인 상황에서 영국을 꺾은 만큼 대표팀 모두가 정신적으로 더욱 강해진 계기가 됐다. －독도 세리머니 이야기를 안 할 수 없다. ▶후회는 없지만 솔직히 시상식에 참가하지 못할 때 힘들었다. 축구 '성지'인 웸블리스타디움 시상대에 설 기회가 많은 것도 아니고 선수단 모두가 함께 고생했는데 그 기쁨을 함께 나누지 못해서다. －주위에서는 뭐라고 했나. ▶부모님께서 많이 힘들어하셨다. 원체 내색을 잘 하시지 않는 분들인데도 걱정을 많이 하시는 것이 보였다. 징계 수위가 생각보다 높지 않아서 다행이다. 다만 올해 브라질월드컵 최종 예선 두 경기를 뛰지 못하는 것은 굉장히 아쉽다. －기성용ㆍ구자철과 동갑이다. ▶ 나이는 같지만 축구 위계질서로 따지면 내가 1년 후배다. 그렇다고 형이라고 부르지는 않고 '키(Ki)' '쿠(Koo)'라고 부른다. 평소에도 자주 이야기를 나눈다. 특히 기성용과는 올림픽에서 함께 중원을 책임지면서 많은 이야기를 나눴다. －유럽에서 뛴다면. ▶이탈리아 세리에A에서 뛰고 싶다. 터프한 플레이를 펼친다는 점에서 나와 잘 맞을것 같다. －지도자 복이 있다고 했는데. ▶초등학교 시절 만났던 전복식 감독님은 휴일도 반납하고 지도해주셨다. 축구에 전념할 수 있도록 용돈도 주셨고 축구화도 사 주셨다. 부산 아이파크에서 모신 안익수 감독님께는 오기를 배웠다. －지난해에는 홍명보 감독을 만났다. ▶2009년 홍 감독님께서 부임한 뒤 올림픽 전까지 20세 이하 청소년월드컵, 2010년 광저우아시안게임을 치렀다. 이때마다 예비명단에는 뽑혔지만 최종명단에는 들지 못했다. －홍 감독과 대회에 나간 것은 이번이 처음인가. ▶런던올림픽에서도 예비명단에는 들었지만 최종명단에 대한 확신은 없었다. this can be interesting wonder if he ever becomes a coach at a top league european club how many Koreans would he bring over?
well i didnt say Blackburn specifically ( i can understand if you implied), but the thought of his name being linked up with a European team sounds interesting. and who knows? if he does take a job at a top 2nd tier league like the championship his leadership skills can bring them up
There is no talk. Its just duerden saying that HMB would be better than the managers at blackburn (his personal club).
This year we should see a more defensive Park Jong-woo in Busan. With Kim Han-yoon gone and with the fact that Yoon Sung-hyo likes to use his midfielders over and over and over and over again, Park Jong-woo see his defensive abilities going up a notch and be closer to the playing style of Kim Nam-il. But thats if he doesnt play like he did in the last few months of last season...but if he does dont worry he wont be going to the reserves. Park Sung-hyo is no tiger like Ahn Ik-soo Busan's central midfield could become the best in the league if he and Lee Jong-won develop well this season. I dont trust Park's Busan but there are alot of young talents in the team that cover up for it.

I wish I hadn't read the actual IOC decision. I know he got off relatively easy, but still, the decision makes it sound like our athletes need a lesson in sportmanship or something, which is absolute bull. Also, the admonition that there be no ceremony or publicity for his medal seems spiteful and pointless. It accomplishes nothing. Just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
One of the glorious moments for an Olympic athlete receiving your medal was robbed from him. A moment that has brought many hardened athletes to tears. A moment that he most likely wont get another shot at. A moment to celebrate with his teammates weeks of hard work paying off. That is no slap on the wrist.
True...but it sure hurts less now and some network will probably do a documentary on the team's run to the medal AND an expose on him alone. Knowing the outcome...i'd do what he did in a heart beat...but that's just me!
But still, I hope none of our footballers make such rash choices in the future. Holding up "Dokdo is our land" signs will only make the foreigners think that the possession of Dokdo is a disputable issue, when it's clearly our land.
