    1. Ray Reid's team at UCONN is the only team in the country who truely play the game the way it should be played. 95% of all other teams UVA, Maryland, St.Johns included all play kick and run, so I am curious to see who the other 5% who truelly PLAY are???

Hey but he doesnt announce his class.....

I have nothing against UCONN or any team for that matter, but why does Ray Reid's team "play the game the way it should be played," and 95% of all other teams don't. Being around soccer just about my entire life, this has always got to me. To my knowledge, soccer (like any other game) is about winning. And if that means I can score goals by connecting 15 passes in a row and tuck it neatly into the side net; having my right back kick it up the field and my forward running past the defense and smacking it as hard as possible into the goal; or even defending man on man over the entire field and "the goon" heave a 50 yard throw in into the box and it hitting off my midfielders head into the goal - I will take it.

In every other sport, especially the big three (baseball, football, basketball), different strategies are scrutinized and gone over with a fine tooth comb. However, in the end the argument that you don't play the game the right way is not discussed. In fact, 9 out of 10 times, credit goes to the coach for devising a way for his team to win.

A couple examples...PITTSBURGH STEELERS with Jerome Bettis. They handed the ball off way more than was fashionable in the QB dominated NFL. Bettis became a household name and their coach is wanted by every team to build a winner.

OR this years NBA Finals. Each game was highlighted with a different style and strategy to win. From Ray Allen's 3 pointers to Big Baby's inside game to Kobe Bryant shooting as often as possible. All the talking heads could say, was how these coaches are terrific for their coaching changes.

In conclusion :), can we stop with saying a team is better just because they appear to have a little more technical ability. Let the results speak. And by all means, you can prefer a style or strategy, but we need to accept that we do not have a country style here in the US like Brazil or Holland. Our style is diversity, and for as frustrating as that may be, it is great to follow. I say kudos to the Sasho's, Maser's, Gelnovitch's, and Yeagley's of the college soccer world because they get done with what they have. And kudos to Reid as well b/c he does get it done as well.

    Now bring on the criticism!

    Ummm..OK.

    1. How exactly should it be played?
    2. Exactyly which are the 9 other D1 teams (5%) who play it that way.
    3. Why shouldn't you get hammered for trolling this nonsense?
