they need to try again at the Veterans/Waters location.....that place is like 1 mile from my work....would be nice....but hopefully the stadium is built closer to downtown than 5 miles over at the fair grounds...
There would be plenty of parking. The Columbus Crew's Stadium is located on the Columbus fair grounds.
The Fairgrounds would be too far for Pinellas County residents. Just like all the Hillsborough baseball "fans" say that downtown St. Pete is too far to go to see the Rays. Dale Mabry, Gateway area in St. Pete, or Brighthouse in Clearwater are much better locations.
Thanks. I love soccer and I am thankful that we have soccer back in Tampa Bay. I'm loyal and I would drive anywhere to see good soccer.
Fan's with your kind of attitude are what's making pro soccer grow in our country. MLS and the USSF Div2 will continue to grow and flourish with american fan's like yourself.
MLS in Tampa? http://www2.tbo.com/content/2010/feb/26/more-details-emerge-fairgrounds-stadium-proposal/sports/ The developer proposing a massive entertainment complex at the Florida State Fairgrounds envisions a project worth up to $1 billion, with professional baseball and soccer stadiums and up to 2,600 hotel rooms, state and Florida State Fair Authority documents show. The second stadium is labeled soccer/multi-event and would have 45,000 seats. It would hold either a Major League Soccer franchise or international soccer games, as well as other events.
Great! But that's you... and I would too. But most of the fans aren't going to come from this very small pool of Big Soccer account holders. A greater number of people will show up if the stadium is in a central location. That's all.
This. An MLS team might be one thing, and I'd still hate to see it in a fringe neighborhood like at the fair grounds. But a D2 team not located centrally, making it as accessible as possible to the entire area, seems pretty dumb. Obviously you and I and others here on these boards would go much greater distances to take in pro soccer, but the vast majority of fans can't be expected to. Especially not when the team is new and there isn't even a fan base in place yet.
http://www.heedarmy.co.uk/new-stadium/ This would be the perfect stadium for us. If a Conference National side can do it why can't we?
Heeeelllllllssssss Yesssssssss! Just selected the seat locations and paid in full for 2, 2010 Season Tickets!! Thank you Evan for your assistance!
Sorry if this has been touched on already, but what will the configuration be at the Baseball Stadium? Just came back from a Spring Training game there and was trying to figure it out.... Outfield for the most part seems most logical, but thats fartherst from most of the seating.
hmmm, a bit far away in some spots, but it should be decent I suppose... the sight lines from all around the stadium are pretty good.. Ashame there isn't a bern in the outfield.
An article on Red Bull Arena. http://www.northjersey.com/sports/p...ls_stadium_is_true_soccer_venue.html?page=all
Why? Too much Red Bull Arena? I'm sure talk will pick up on the Steinbrenner Field situation once the season starts. We can also spin off some more idle speculation about the new SSS if you like. Here's one: I have a hunch that the Rowdies owners are buying up land around the Tomato Patch location for parking so they can build the SSS there without rezoning. Screw the NIMBYs and the blue hairs! (runs off to plant this rumor in various local Tampa websites)
Ha! Back at ya! Anyway, it's what I would do (that is, buy up land around the Tomato Patch for parking) if I were a millionaire sports club owning playboy. Alas, I don't live in that world so my hunch is not worth much.
