Why is Castro still on this team if he's not going to play?

And like we know that Twellman's not ready yet, why not put him on IR? I suppose of course the answer will be "Who are we going to bring in?"

exactly why bother, they have nobody lined up.
Wouldn't it make sense to shelve him for the remainder of the year and bring in a player that can play and contribute? I mean they already hinted that this is a "rebuilding" year. Why rush him back.......mind boggling

Definitely agree with you guys. But on Twellman - playing devil's advocate here - if I'm not mistaken IR would end his season correct. So in a contract year the FO may be keeping Twellman active to give him as much of an opportunity as possible to come back (as slim as many feel that is). They probably feel having Twellman in the lineup even for 2 games could provide the necessary 2 wins to get the Revs in the playoffs in this mediocre league. It did last year as that DC win may have been one of the tiebreakers that snuck the Revs in. If you put him on IR and put a formal administrative end to his season, you're effectively saying "thanks for the memories Taylor, best of luck in your post-Revs career." Plus the marketing factor, if Twellman has a (tiny) chance of coming back, people may stay somewhat interested in the team. I know a lot of casual Rev fans that probably couldn't name anyone besides Twellman on the Revs. Milk him for all he's worth.

But then again, who knows what their thought process is.

if I am not mistaken, Reis was put on IR for 6 weeks

well theoretically they don't know what Twellman's timetable is (I don't think anyone does) so putting him on IR for 6 weeks and he's miraculously healthy after 4 weeks, wouldn't do the Revs any good.

Slightly mistaken. Reis is out for 6 matches not 6 weeks per IR rules.

Considering that he's essentially played two halves of games since missing out on the 2008 playoffs, I'm pretty sure the odds are there won't be a miracle cure in 4 weeks.

At this point, (hell, many of us said this during the offseason), this team should be looking to bring someone in during August with the thought that if Twellman comes back, that's just a plus, but don't plan on it.

Of course, we were told how we were wrong and more nonsensical BS. What I love though is now those same people are saying "How could the team have known there'd be injuries!!!?!?!?!"

Are there no good players that the Revs can acquire? Its seems like the Revs bring in mediocre player one after another.

Does 2 Khanos=a good player? NO!

Who are these people who were against bringing someone in in August?
    Again, who is saying this?

We actually don't have that many injuries.

The latter part of the statement was in regards to the offseason comments.
The same people who keep saying "when healthy, we're a title contender."

no. Playoff team? Possibly. When healthy the team would more than likely look like:
[LINEUP-4-4-2]Twellman, Dube, Perovic, Joseph, Niouky, Nyassi, Sinovic, Gibbs, Osei, Alston, Reis[/LINEUP-4-4-2]
There might be debate over Barnes, Mansally, Tierney or Killer. Honestly I don't think Nyassi provides enough quality, Sinovic is suspect against speed, Gibbs is soft, Osei is unpredictable and we have already seen that neither Niouky or Phelan are good enough to carry Larentowicz' jock strap

Doc, if I felt it was a fair statement, it wouldn't bother me. No, I don't think this team (as constituted) would be a title contender if fully healthy. There would still be three-five players that it could very easily be argued aren't in the top 10 of their positions in MLS. You can't be a title contender that way, IMO. Also, there are players that would be starting that really don't have the experience and still haven't proven themselves at this level (Niouky and Nyassi come to mind immediately).

With everyone back to full health, this is very much a playoff team. Maybe they even win one round, but that'd be about it. There's still NO possession on the field, even with SJ (IMO) when they match up against a team that has a good midfield that can just control the game.

I disagree with your assessment (so what's new :D ). Your assessment is based on your perception of individual players. I see this roster as greater than the sum of it's parts and that when healthy will combine to raise each others level of play. My fondest hope is they do get healthy and we have a chance to find out which one of us is more correct.
