Regals FC steps up again to prepare for the first NPSL winter season. This time against one of Mexico's strongest clubs, Puebla FC.
Would it be wrong or out of line to say there is an East Coast bias in the NPSL All-Star selection. NPSL 2010 All-Star Selections Players may be added after the initial release, so please check back for changes. The All-Star Game is Friday, July 30. It is right after the third-place game and the night before the final. None of the Final Four teams have any All-Stars. Also, that is a LONG trip for the Northwest and Midwest players. And I don't have any information on money (maybe one of the league officials who visit here can provide more info), but I'm guessing the players have to pay for a lot of the trip.
We hear ya So-Cal... Texas (and OK) is getting ready to begin the first winter season in October and ending in March, we than go directly to the regular season Apr-Jul. This type of schedule would really work for a So Cal, LV, AZ division...
We've been trying for the past 3 years. A lot of interest just hasn't been the follow through with the potential groups there. We're in talks with a few now, so hopefully we can have 2-3 in the LA/Orange County area.
It seems that way yes, but this year it was on the owners to pick the all-stars and the only groups that submitted them were pretty much in the Northeast as you can see.
Chris any chance that we may hear some new team announcements this fall? Everyone else is there any speculation on new teams or not returning?
Probably has to do with cost, unless league pays for airfare and hotel. If objective, the all stars would be loaded with players from Sacramento Gold and Sonoma County SOL, as they won the NPSL championship in 09 and 10.
I believe the only thing was the airfare they had to pay for. But it was our first year doing it, and I think next year will be much more inclusive.
This might seem like spam but it isn't. I have worked on a project to map lower division soccer franchises in the US. I am looking for anybody to cast their eye over the NPSL sections to confirm whether I have got the franchise histories right. The introduction is here. Thanks.
So is there any news, speculation or rumors for the off season? I guess they only news I can think of is that the teams in the Southwest (TX, OK) have left and formed their own league. And they were joined by a TX PDL team.
Some traction in So Cal as the Lancaster Rattlers have announced their defection from the PDL to the lower-cost NPSL... http://lancasterrattlers.com/switchingleagues.html The Brunners (owners) are great guys and I'm glad to see them continuing their commitment to the game at this level.
southwest confirmed for this upcoming year: SD Boca Santa Anna AZ Suaharos There are 4 other groups currently going through the application process in the Southwest. Northwest there should be 6 teams now there Pacific Northwest we hope to have 4 teams there to start this division this year.
FC Sonic of the Lehigh Valley is returning, they posted this on their website: "Sonic preparing for 2011 Season Posted On October - 13 - 2010 FC Sonic volunteer staff and board members are busy preparing for the 2011 NPSL season. Stay tuned for player announcements, schedule postings, and other exciting news for FC Sonic Fans."
If any of you guys go to see them next season, don't wear a hat! Their stadium is probably the windiest place I have ever seen a soccer game! Oh, and don't expect your team to place attractive, passing football too. Their pitch has a surface like corrugated iron.
i got news! there will be a new team in atlanta, no more Atlanta FC...it will be the Diablos Atlanta, we will play at silverbacks stadium and will be coached by jose manuel abundis (ex professional player in mexico and mls, played confederations cup with mexico in 1999 and scored against brazil in the final...and missed a pk at wembley in 2001 haha)...the team is going to be young, most players will be under 23, the roster will have 25 players...thats all they told us last night...i'll bring more news when i get them
