Re: 2009-2010 Offseason I have not heard his name mentioned by anyone but that does not mean it is not true. I was told yesterday that the Wizards plan on bringing several players into camp to look at. At least a couple of those players that are coming are from Africa. Perhaps he is signed but he might be just on his way to tryout.
Re: 2009-2010 Offseason big fan of us diving into the africa pool if these rumors are to be believed.
Re: 2009-2010 Offseason They are definitely looking in Africa. There were several African players in camp last year. Peter had said that some of those guys he was looking at was not for last year, but for the future (which may be now). The Wizards were also planning on doing a combine in Africa last year but it was canceled.
Re: 2009-2010 Offseason I feel like such a Debbie Downer ....... but this little voice is saying 'we can bring great players in from the moon if they exist there ... but what is the point if we cannot develop them?'. MLS dumping that reserve league, and with the tiny tiny rosters just don't allow for any real time for people to develop. I'd love to see us mining Africa for 16 year olds .....
Re: 2009-2010 Offseason I was in fact referring to the draft. Our one signing is Teal Bunbury, he's the only one already signed by the league, the other 4 have yet to sign, but we hold their MLS rights.
Re: 2009-2010 Offseason thanks, the sooner it comes out the sooner I can plan my annual trip to KC. Here's hoping for a great season!
Re: 2009-2010 Offseason http://wvhooligan.com/2010/01/15/current-mls-allocation-order/ Here is the current allocation list. We are at #3. Might we actually get to use it this season?
Re: 2009-2010 Offseason I would think so, there's a lot of talk (nothing concrete) of some US players returning to the US after the World Cup, I've seen Bocanegra's name mentioned. Then there's the mention today that Michael Orozco is coming to the US as well. Although at this point I really don't think we need more defenders on the roster. If we don't use it for ourselves, I think we could at least get something in return for our place in line from some team.
Re: 2009-2010 Offseason He has played in all but 2 league games. One of those was because of red card suspension. He also played in 1 of 3 cup games.
Re: 2009-2010 Offseason He is welcome in Kansas City anytime. He was quality when I used to watch him at Soldier Field .....
Re: 2009-2010 Offseason According to the stats on the Rennes website, he's only played in 14 of 20 league matches... nothing since the 5th of December.
Re: 2009-2010 Offseason I could have sworn I heard on Fox Soccer Report earlier this week that he just returned from injury.
Re: 2009-2010 Offseason I'm mostly going off what I read in the Americans Abroad updates that Ives posts each week... but it looks like Boca has been dressed & left of the bench for most of that time. He did, apparently, start and go for 120 minutes in a French League Cup match on the 8th.
Re: 2009-2010 Offseason My stats came from the french league's english language website. http://www.ligue1.com/joueur/detail_tempsJeu.asp?no_joueur=122624 I just failed to notice the league was up to week 20 and he hadn't played since week 16.
