Hello again, Please start posting any new player moves in this thread. The old one will be disappearing.
Omar Jessey, a 17-yr-old Gambian that the Quakes have been trying to get signed for weeks is signed; but no official announcement to link yet, probably the infamous "paperwork."
New England Revolution sign Khano Smith and Marko Perovic. http://www.mlssoccer.com/content/revolution-ink-serbian-midfielder-bring-khano-back
Toronto FC signs Martin Saric. http://toronto.fc.mlsnet.com/news/t...id=8952888&vkey=news_t280&fext=.jsp&team=t280 Phew.
How he ever went undrafted I'll never know. Hopefully he's the next Bobby Boswell - undrafted to US MNT player!
Yo mods -- please sticky this thread. DC In: Barry Rice (unattached) New England In: Marko Perovic (FC Basel - Switzerland) Khano Smith (Lincoln City - England) San Jose In: Omar Jessey (???) Toronto In: Jon Conway (signed off waivers) Martin Saric (NK Celje - Slovenia) Out: Brian Edwards (waived)
The "???" is a tough one. According to the interview he did today, this is his first professional contract. He was training with Crystal Palace but couldn't get a work permit. His last club might be "Serekunda East" but I'm not really sure if that's just a regional youth thing as opposed to an actual club.
I actually did a bit of digging back when he appeared in camp. Serrekunda East seems to be a regional league in Gambia, in the third tier of Gambian soccer. Edit: checked again. Serrekunda East might refer to any of three entities in Gambian soccer: a club called Serrekunda East FC in the second division; the Serrekunda East Nawettan, one of the regional third division leagues; or one of the regional selections that contest an annual "interzonal" tournament. And another search for the player comes up with the following: http://www.foroyaa.gm/modules/news/article.php?storyid=4212 - played for Serrekunda East regional selection in a scrimmage against the Gambian national team. Also, it seems likely that Omar "Waterman" Jassey and the Omar "Waterman" Jasseh mentioned in this article are the same person: http://thepoint.gm/africa/gambia/article/four-teams-line-up-in-sk-east-league-semis Which suggests that Omar Jassey played for both Maccassa FC in the Serrekunda East league (Gambian 3rd tier), and a Serrekunda East regional selection.
Toronto FC signs Dan Gargan. http://www.cbc.ca/sports/soccer/story/2010/03/27/sp-gargan-tfc.html?ref=rss
Good move if Gargan is healthy. He almost came to DC a few seasons ago, but went to USL instead. This certainly explains the Wynne trade, though.
Also, in the interest of moves that could happen shortly, Goff reports Emilio may be headed back to MLS. DC owns his rights, so any team interested would have to trade something for him. Emilio would be a perfect example of the Re-Entry Draft being used (if said draft was actually being used in 2010 instead of 2011).
San Jose signs Jon Busch: http://www.centerlinesoccer.com/2010/03/28/earthquakes-acquire-goalkeeper-jon-busch/
That's great for John but I don't see how that helps San Jose. They might want to investigate putting a team in front of the keeper.
Honestly I'm a fire fan and i wish the best for busch and my say is bench cannon for a game ... give him something to fight for. Sinc eI've watched cannon he always comes out to far from his net leaving an open shot for any top player. GREAT MOVE!
Respuesta: Re: 2010 In-season Player Movement Scorecard Christian Gomez goes to NASL's Miami FC http://www.nasl.com/news.php?id=104 Seems like a better "coup" than Ralston.
OK, I think we've got pretty definitive evidence that the Omar Jessey who just joined San Jose is Omar "Waterman" Jassey, most recently of Maccassa FC in the Gambian third division. This article gives his complete club history. http://www.dailynews.gm/index.php?i...n[single]=62699&tx_wecdiscussion[show_cat]=36
That article is why we spent the whole preseason being not quite sure if his name was actually Omar Jessey or Omar Jassey.
As for Jessey....Most important is to find out when his 18th birthday is, as he is not getting an ITC (International Transfer Certificate) until then...so Tollbooth hold off on this one for a while.
I presume this means Attakora moves back to the center in place of Ty Hardin, who was woefully indecisive on Saturday. In which case TFC would now have a back four that features 3 of the nastiest slow-ass hacks in the league today: BRENNAN---Attakora---GARCIA--GARGAN This is an old-school, early-90s Cle Kooiman defensive set-up. And no doubt the refs will protect them as they did Garcia's flagrant forearm attack on Lenhart's nose this past weekend. Wow. This is gonna get brutal. There Will Be Blood.
Christian Arrieta, USL MVP in 2009, is on trial with the Philadelphia Union this week. Myrie to the bench/injury list? Source: http://twitter.com/SoccerInsider
